Fabulous location. Easy to walk or get public transport. The complimentary ginger tea of an afternoon was a welcome refreshing drink at the end of a hot day. Rooms were fabulous and comfortable, the baked bread was amazing!!!

Great stay at a lovely hotel that is close to everything. Cute Japanese decore with lots of space, supplies and comfy beds. Staff was friendly, polite, and very helpful. There are nice touches like evening matcha tea drink, tours around the areas, lantern rentals ... all complementary. Would stay here again.

This was a really great hotel in a convenient area of Kyoto for visitors. We had two adults and two teenagers in a triple room. The sofa bed was a little hard, but it was nice to have the extra space which can be difficult to find in Japan. The hotel staff was great and the laundry facilities were convenient. Also fun to try the bread making kit at least once. Definitely recommend!

Very spacious compared to typical Japanese hotels. Clean and comfy. Reception is dark though. Love the PJs. Close to temple but far from the busy street hub.

Everything about the hotel was praiseworthy, from its unique cultural theme to the rooms, cleanliness and service. It is extremely convenient for those looking for explore Gion. Whilst I didn't use the amenities, I hear that those were good as well. The only thing I would recommend is blankets for those sleeping on the sofa, not just for the futon beds.

Great location, quiet room, lovely staff, big rooms with great facilities and showers, but beds weren’t great and the blind let in a lot of light at night in our room.

Great hotel in an amazing location. My family loved the spacious rooms and utilized the kitchenettes to make breakfast. During our visit the hotel offered complementary walking tours and ceremonial matcha tea in the evenings that we loved.

This location is very close to Hanamikoji Street, the famous Geisha street in Gion, Kenninji Temple, Yasaka Shrine, Shijo Avenue and Shirakawa Canal. The hotel itself is very nice in the traditional interior design. I personally think this is the best hotel in the area.

We enjoyed our stay at this hotel. It was very convenient to Gion district. We would stay here again. FYI, they included “breakfast” however, you have to make it yourself. They provide a bread making kit and a bread maker in your room, so we set the timer and the bread was ready when we woke up. I was a bit surprised that we were expected to make our own bread, but I will say that it was the best bread I’ve ever had. It was an interesting and unique experience for sure!

Gion adjacent charmer

Possibly the best of the many hotels we used in our trip. Incredibly nice rooms with lots of amenities, including a well-stocked kitchenette. Great location and overall utterly charming place to be.

Beautiful hotel, even more beautiful surroundings. The entrance way does get pretty busy around the afternoon because of the shops and the shrine very near it, but just wake up early and its perfect. The staff were helpful and their free tour and late night tea was super nice and thoughtful. Our room was so beautiful we never wanted to leave.

Wonderful hotel, rooms were spacious and clean. Laundry machines available, although the fee was a little high compared to other hotels we stayed at in Japan, and the pay system could be more convenient (credit card only, no cash/apple pay). Very walkable and safe location. We especially liked that the hotel offered free walking tours to help guests get to know the area. We enjoyed it so much!

Great location, good hotel

Good hotel, great location. One negative was the window in room we had was obscured glass. I think it was to hide the wall of the next door building that was only a few feet away from the window. So while light was let in, we could not see out. No way to see if it was raining, cloudy or sunny without leaving the room. Breakfast was included (in your room), but coffee was not offered every day.

Loved staying at the OMO5 Gion! Enjoyed having a kitchenette and also had the breakfast option of freshly baked bread, alternating with sushi. They have wonderful pajama pants and tops, which my husband wanted to buy, but they were not for sale. The room was quite large for Japanese Hotels and felt more like an apt than hotel. There was also more service than we expected. We will try more Hoshino resorts in the future! Arigatou Gozaimasu to the staff for a lovely stay!

This is a best hotel that we stayed during the trip. The hotel is super clean and beautiful. I love how they design the hotel from the main door to the room. Everything is neat, cozy, modern mixed with traditional. I love how they prepare the clothes that you can wear while staying in your room. The washing machine is really nice, it has both washer and dryer, easy to make payment through your phone with credit card. It also email you once your clothes is done. We chose the staying plan that has breakfast. It was excellent, they prepare the spreads in the fridge, you only need to make bread by yourself with the instruction, you can set time for the cooker. We had sushi second day, it was superb, very fresh and well-seasoned. The room that we book was spacious, it can fit up to 6 people. The washroom is spacious and clean. The location is unbeatable, it's right across the Yasaka Shrine, the bus stop and subway are nearby. Everything around the hotel is so much convenient, from the restaurants, shopping, convenient stores, drug stores, and transportation. I would love to recommend this hotel. We definitely will stay here on the next trip to Kyoto!
