"To start with, no check in information was sent to me before I arrived. When I arrived I couldn't get hold of the owner as he wasn't answering his phone and didn't have the curtesy to reply to the several messages I left, both in the form of answer phone and text. I had to contact Hotels.com via the online chat. Eventually one of the owners employees phoned me and said he would come and let me in. Once in the property, things didn't really improve. The Orchard Hotel & Restaurant

10/10 Excellent

"I really enjoyed my stay at the Orchard Hotel. The location is fantastic, right in the heart of Nottingham. The restaurant was outstanding. I also had posssibly the best bacon sandwich I've had in my life for breakfast! I was blown away with the cleanliness of the room and the staff were helpful and really friendly. I will be returning next time I'm in Nottingham!"

"Only a few parking spots at the hotel which have to be booked in advance. It's approx 5 minute walk to a multi storey car park across the across the way. Our hotel room looked ok until we found some rubbish in the drawer. The bedding smelt musky. Good location to the main centre."

"Reception staff were great, very friendly. The pool was fab, nice and clean and great for the kids. The room was a good size and clean, if not a little run down. We had the top room with skylights for windows, one of had a broken blind that wouldn’t go down. It meant we couldn’t make the room dark which made it difficult to get the kids to sleep and when the sun came up at 5am it woke all of us up too. The air con also didn’t work and the room was roasting hot. It had been a sunny day so the room was already hot before we got into it. I suspect staff knew about the issues with the room prior to us checking in as every blind was pulled down except for the one broken one, but obviously I can’t prove this. We tried to change rooms but the hotel was at capacity and by the time we realised the blind didn’t go down we were already unpacked with the kids in bed trying to get them to sleep and it seemed like too much hassle. We all had a terrible nights sleep due to the temp of the room and getting up at the crack of sparrows. In hindsight we should have packed up and moved hotels. Reception staff were apologetic in the morning a advised management would be in touch, however we received an email saying we’d have to go through hotels.com to complain as we had booked through them. Needless to say we didn’t get very far with them. Overall hotel was nice but the issues room really ruined it and would put me off staying again."

"Ridiculously busy set up of an open day full of cadent gas engineers all clogging up the walkways which was quite dangerous with a lot of tripping hazards for us normal guests. Poorly organised and chaos everywhere. All vehicles were just abandoned in the car park, again mainly cadent engineers attend attending the open day. Terrible from start to finish."

"Check in was a joke . Rang bell 3 times before anyone came to reception. When they did arrive tried to charge me again when I had already paid. My message said breakfast ( continental was included) . Got up next day and female staff member said it wasn’t so we went elsewhere for breakfast. ON return I showed them message from hotel to say it stated breakfast was included. They did give us it the day we were leaving. They didn’t offer to reimburse for breakfast as their mistake I asked for two wine glasses for our room as bar was dark and dingy . The lady carried on talking to someone setting up a stall and left me standing waiting for a good 5 minutes . The hotel is run down which is such a shame as in a beautiful village in a lovely location . Bus stop outside to go to Leicester or Loughborough. Would I stay again ? Not unless it had a complete renovation and they got new staff as service extremely poor and rude . "
