The hotel is reasonably priced and the room has a very good view. The facility is showing some age, but clean and well ordered nonetheless. Driving would be more convenient than taking the public transport to reach the hotel.
Property was clean and room was comfortable, other than there was no shower/bath in the room, which maybe we should have known, but were surprised by. There is a public bath/onsen on site with a lovely view over the ocean, but is not for everyone. Also no real food options nearby and the onsite restaurant seems to have limited availability.
As a foreigner in Japan, this felt as a true Japanese experience. Staff was very welcoming and rooms were clean, organized. You can sleep with the sound of the sea and wake up to see the sunrise from you window.

This was probably the most fabulous find in our entire 13 day trip to Japan. It is about a 15 minute walk from the JR Station, but it was very well taken care of, the employees were extremely friendly and helpful. The Onsen on premise was excellent and the meals served at the hotel were absolutely the BEST we had on the trip. I would highly suggest this hotel to anyone visiting Katsuura and to see the Nachi Taisha.
I was made to pay for two rooms when I tried to book only one. The first reservation did not go through (or so I thought) and I repeated the booking process. Within 24 hours, I realized I had two rooms in my name. I called Expedia immediately who could not (for some reason) cancel it, although the website said "free cancellation". They asked me to message the hotel directly. I messaged the hotel and I got a curt reply that my request was denied! So I paid an extra $140 for a room that I never used! The hotel itself was clean and comfortable, but certainly not worthy of the $280 that I ended up paying! Felt mostly let down by Expedia. Next time, I'll hesitate to book a room outside of USA through Expedia.
The hotel was surprisingly nice. We had a room with a view which was stunning. There is no shower in the room which was concerning at first, but it was well worth the public onsen they have available in the hotel. The public onsen’s Are separated by gender and offer a stunning location to shower and bathe. Would recommend this hotel.
A little dated by European standards - the in-room bathroom needed a facelift, but the traditional rooms, public Onsen and easterly views over the bay easily made up for it.
Kii-K has obviously been a thriving fishing port in its time but the main attraction now is the Tuna landing every other day - well worth getting up early for!
There are plenty of small bars where the locals eat (early) - amazing fresh tuna and kumano beef.
A 1000y return bus ticket will take you 30 minutes to Daimonzaka for a good walk up to the Nachi Falls and Temples - the Infirmation Centre at the station has all the details, although that’s probably the last English you’ll hear spoken!
There is not much around the hotel, but what a great place to relax at. The baths were not so busy and there is one that overlooks the ocean. The food was excellent both for dinner and breakfast. I really enjoyed my stay. You can borrow bikes from the front to get around town if you don't drive. A simple but comfortable stay.
Staff was great. Dinner and breakfast was really good. Beautiful view of the inlet from room and from Onsen... 5min maybe from the train station. Our trip only allowed us one night here, but would have stayed for longer if time allowed.
It is a very nice place,we had half board for two days, both dinner and breakfast are excellent. The sashimi are very fresh, beef taste soooo good. We love every bite of the food.
We liked this place. The view of a beautiful bay and beach from our room was wonderful. The onsen also overlooked the sea. The hotel is walking distance to the station and harbor attractions and restaurants. The town is small and many restaurants close at night so consider the dinner option.
