"This was probably the best stay of our trip. We LOVED the onsen, best time to go was 5am as it was empty and felt like a private VIP experience. Loved the breakfast - I have a seafood and nut allergy and I was worried about cross contamination but I was fine and there were so many options. Rooms were clean and comfortable and lived the pajamas. I’d absolutely come back."

"It was a nice little Place for what I needed. I spent most of the time traveling around but it was good for a place to sleep and shower. The breakfast was good early in the morning and they do offer Dinner too but I did not take advantage because of the good food in Japan."

"Toyoko Hotels are usually great. They are clean, convenient, and affordable, and they tend to have lots of useful amenities or people who might have forgotten to bring something like a toothbrush or razor. This particular hotel has a really convenient location that's a short walk from several train stations and from a couple of very charming and pleasant shopping arcades. Miidera (三井寺) and Lake Biwa (琵琶湖) are also manageable walks. Otsu is a lovely and underrated city, and this hotel is in a really nice part of the city."

"The room was clean and quite large, much larger than the typical Japanese hotel room. We were on a high floor, and the view was beautiful. The breakfast buffet is fine but not that extensive. For us, the highlight was the front desk staff, which made several calls for us to work out an unexpected difficulty (we don't speak Japanese). They were absolutely fantastic. We can't thank them enough."

"The traditional Japanese rooms are enjoyable and make your stay something else, if possible get a room with a outdoor hinoki bath they're amazing."
