We were warmly greeted on arrival, the room was charming and had all of the amenities and fixtures we expected from the descriptions. An oasis in a desert of industry, ugly suburban sprawl and brutal roads. We were cycle touring and Qualicum Beach made a lovely end to an awful day of negotiating brutal roads and bullying drivers. I don’t recommend Vancouver Island for cycling.
Lovely to be staying in a non-commercial town with local shops and restaurants. The Old School House Art & Craft Centre was a delight.
It’s not a sandy beach but pebbles so bring sturdy footwear. If you don’t have a car it’s difficult to get around as there is no shuttle or taxi. There is a nice walk which passes a few restaurants and you can do paddle boarding
