"The room was very comfortable and spacious, and the breakfast buffet was great. The property is slightly removed from the busy areas of Aguas Calientes so I didn't find it to be noisy. The staff was all very friendly as well. The best amenity is that they will meet you at the train station with your bags so you don't have to carry them up the hill!"

"This property was located up the hillside and was quiet and peaceful with a beautiful view of the mountains. The beds were comfortable and the room was clean. The location is right off the main square and close to everything in Aquas Calientes. The staff were friendly and available within minutes of messaging. They met us at the train station late at night to ensure we found the place safely. The room included breakfast on the roof terrace which was an added bonus. Good coffee and local fruits to eat. As others mentioned .. the stairs are a bit challenging but well worth it. Donโt drag a heavy suitcase here โฆ and you will be fine."

"The Retama is a no-frills hotel that offers a practical option for travelers looking for an affordable place to stay in Machu Picchu Town, formerly known as Aguas Calientes. The standard rooms are quite small, and some of the interior rooms do not have windows. However, you can upgrade to a larger room with windows overlooking the river that runs through town. The hotel offers a decent buffet breakfast. We did experience significant issues with the Wi-Fi, so that's something to keep in mind if having a reliable internet connection is important during your stay. The bathrooms are also quite small, but we appreciated that the shower had plenty of hot water, especially since Machu Picchu Town can be quite cool. The bathroom faucets, however, did not appear to have hot water. Overall, if you're looking for a basic, budget-friendly place to stay and don't need a lot of extras, The Retama isn't a bad choice."
