The Occidental Lodge

8/10 Good

"Our stay was enjoyable overall, but there are improvements that could be made. -We called in advance to ask if there was a fridge in the room, and at that point they asked when we planned on checking in. We said between 3-4 and they said, "OK, well we won't be there, so you'll be in room _____ and your key will be under the mat". I guess no one actually works onsite after everyone checks out in the morning? They did leave a phone number posted regarding who to contact with issues. -There was no blow dryer in the room, so we called in the morning and the desk person said they had one and we could pick it up and just leave it in the room. -We found the bed comfortable, but it is firm. The walls are thin and we could hear the people next door talking, but it wasn't too late or too early. -It looks like they are making updates; the bathroom shower tiles looked new, but the shower knob was falling off and the hot water came out on the cold setting. The old TV was on a new dresser next to an old dresser. The shades look like they're room darkening, but it was super bright in the morning. -Big spiderwebs hanging across the door; a quick wipe down before guest arrival would help. -All in all everything did work, and we got a good night's sleep. The pool is noted as not heated, and it was too cold to swim in. Maybe they could invest in a thermal pool cover to warm it up? I'd definitely stay again if the pool was warm enough to use."

"Casa Secoya is the ideal place to stay, a compact room with everything right there easy to get to. Herb, the manager is jovial and helpful. He stepped right in and fixed our TV glitch in a minute or 2. The pool is a few feet away from the room. It is a perfect hotel."
