"If you’re in England I can’t imagine staying in a Holiday Inn on the outskirts of town when you could be in the heart of a 2,000 year old city, can cross the street and get an excellent meal or coffee, and see amazing architecture like the St Albans Abbey/Cathedral less than 200 metres from the door step of this historic 470 year old hotel that has seen it all and dripping in character and charm.
It was about the hottest day of the year at 35 degrees but the staff had a fan going and I had two...
"Staff friendly. Room was on top floor not ideal as no lift and my partner is elderly.
Room was noisey due to hotel air conditioning systems being located on that floor. Bed comfortable but noise prevented good nights sleep.
Breakfast was good and grounds are nice.
Room rate for the Saturday overall I would say not worth it and would only stay again unless I got a deal."
"We were so pleasantly surprised with this hotel. The location is central to the town, the room was nice, and it was air conditioned….which was fabulous because we were there during a heat wave."
"Last minute booking made at 8pm by 11.30pm was at the property and no lockbox enaul had been forwarded so could not get into the property. Had to find alternative accomodation as could not waitcany longer for the info as no indication my issue was being addressed. Finally received the lockbox email at 12 30am 4.5hrs after the booking.
Would not advise last minute/evening bookings for this venue."
