About Sunway Lagoon
A massive theme park in Subang Jaya just west of Kuala Lumpur, Sunway Lagoon is five theme parks in one and is great for travellers of all ages. There is a manmade beach, games, rides and an interactive zoo, and it is popularly visited by Thai and foreign tourists as well as locals.
Sunway Lagoon in Malaysia is a lot of fun and is best visited over three or four days, with some visitors staying as long as one week.
For those that are young at heart and have a love for water, the Water Park spans 13,000 square metres and includes water rides, a wave pool and the largest man-made beach in the world. Nature lovers will find the Nature Park most appealing, with its 140 species of exotic animals and 82 exhibits.
Adrenaline junkies should try these: bunging jumping, soaring over the park at 206 metres, off-roading in an ATV. The amusement park portion of Sunway Lagoon is the best place for the kids, with themed playgrounds and pirate ship rides.
Those that want a little bit more culture while staying at Hotels near Sunway Lagoon should leave the theme park and visit the iconic Petronas Twin Towers, have a meal at the dinner-entertainment Saloma Theatre Restaurant or go to a concert at the Dewan Filharmonik Petronas.
Restaurants and Bars on Sunway Lagoon
There is an abundance of eating and drinking options while staying at hotels near Sunway Lagoon as well as options right in the theme park itself. Street stalls are everywhere and sell cheap local fare, as do many of the food courts in the nearby shopping malls. For up-market options, stroll along Changkat Bukit Bintang, for cheap Chinese cuisine head to Alor Road, while Bintang Walk is where the best Arabian gastronomy can be found. It can be a bit expensive to drink in this area as it is home to many stylish bars, but cheaper local places and Chinese-style hostess bars can also be found.
Shopping will be no trouble while staying at a hotel near Sunway Lagoon, as the Bukit Bintang area is the shopping mecca of Kuala Lumpur. Retail malls are everywhere and range from glamorous malls that house designer label boutiques to other malls filled with cheap local labels and goods.
