"Not excellent...biggest issues: no toilet paper or soap until next morning, shower hot water was quite cold. Building in rough shape, especially flooring, though it looks like they're making improvements (painting walls etc.).
Not a fan of the virtual check-in: a bit confusing and too impersonal, though I eventually figured it out. I finally met Monica next morning who was quite pleasant and helpful; if they can fix the biggest issues I would rate higher.

"Incredible hospitality and views of the city of Cusco were the highlights of the hostel for me. The staff works hard to create a very comfortable and welcoming environment, and are happy to help with any requests you might have. The included breakfast is lovely and eating it on their porch overlooking Cusco cannot be beat. I'll be recommending this hostel to any friends that visit Cusco."

"We stayed seven nights at Tierra Viva and it was the perfect base for exploring the Sacred Valley. The property is beautiful and serene, and the staff were friendly and accommodating throughout.
Our spacious room was comfortable, though standard rooms don’t include a fridge. Interestingly, the standard rooms actually seemed nicer than the superior rooms, so don’t feel you need to upgrade.
The complimentary à la carte breakfast options were a lovely touch. In the evenings, the hotel lights the fireplace around 19:00 and sells marshmallows to roast, which became a charming nightly ritual. The spa is well equipped with a jacuzzi, steam room, and finnish sauna, though access must be booked in advance and isn’t included. We also loved the touchless water bottle refill station.
The road from the main road to the hotel is quite bumpy, so don’t be alarmed. Uber is unreliable in this area, with drivers frequently not showing up. We nearly missed our train to Machu Picchu, but the receptionist saved us by booking a taxi.
Tips: ask the hotel to arrange transfers and activities, or use Taxidatum, which is fair priced and trustworthy. For llamas and alpacas, take a taxi to Mountain View Experience for lunch.
Tierra Viva is the best value in the region. Highly recommended."
"We checked in late and the staff got us in quickly and made dinner recommendations. The room was clean. They packed us a "bag breakfast " since we were leaving earlier then breakfast started which was fantastic. The location is a little ways away from the typical walkable shops"
"Really great spot with its proximity to Plaza de Armas. Awesome breakfast choices and they would even pack you a breakfast if you have to leave early.
The Presidential room is HUGE! It has a jacuzzi as a feature but I would have preferred a step in shower as getting in and out of it can be tricky.
Take note you do hear the city outside as the windows are not sealed and the market is right across but to me it’s a non issue.
And I am very very thankful that the hotel has an oxygen tank as my son’s altitude sickness was bad enough for him to need it
Highly recommend this hotel"
"Very nice and helpful staff, they went above and beyond. Excellent room and amenities, good restaurant. Near the Main Street and close to main square but fyi is at top of the hill so to come back to hotel from square is straight up hill. Very good stay we enjoyed it and would come back!"
"This is the most beautiful little spot, what a gem! I will return again when I can. It has beautiful and tranquil gardens and grounds. The hotel is quaint, rustic, quiet and small, only a handful of rooms, with personal English speaking staff and superior service. The on-site restaurant is 5 star with an exceptional atmosphere. I will be returning on my next trip to Urubamba."
"Great location only a block from the main square. Plenty of shopping and dining options nearby. You enter into the property and are instantly walking into a beautiful and peaceful courtyard which our room was accessed from. This property was built in the early 19th century as a wealthy Spanish family’s villa, so it has a lot of historical charm and is well maintained. The included breakfast was of high quality and lots of variety. Staff was friendly and helpful. Highly recommended if you’re staying in Cusco."
