This was a great place to stay! It was on the quiet side of town away from the busy tourist area so it was so nice to walk to near by restaurants and not have to deal with a lot of people. When we wanted to get to the more touristy places it was a super easy walk over there! The room was very spacious and clean. The pillows were a little uncomfortable and the breakfast is a very simple continental breakfast but they have a great balcony to have breakfast on! AC was heavenly and they have a great view over the little garden outside down below. It was super easy to get to by taking the water taxi to the hospital stop with a very short walk (that had no stairs), once you got there you did have to go up some stairs but they were not terrible. Owners were very friendly and would highly recommend this place to everyone!

The room was very spacious, simple, clean and comfortable. The staff was so helpful with everything. We didn't have problem finding it though we had a lot of luggage since its accessible to public transportation. All the famous places of Venice was also walkable and we are close to a grocery so economical too. Highly recommended and already planning to come back actually.

Very good place to stay in Venice. Close to the water boat station from the airport, only 10 minutes walk to the San Marco square. I enjoy the free breakfast in the morning. Friendly staff!

Great location. Easy to get to by boat, via train or airport. No steps to carry luggage over. Safe neighborhood. Fausto and Dee were very accommodating. We enjoyed our visit. We enjoyed speaking with the owners and the locals. Go visit Venice. It’s beautiful and like a maze.

For the price this was a very good stay. The room was large with lots of space. Great to have a fridge to store drinks and item from the food shop around the corner. The apartment is tired but good value and kept very clean. The only real downside was the breakfast as coffee was poor. But the freshly heated bread rolls were nice and as long as you are aware not to expect a lot thus was fine

I stayed here in late October 2019. I was traveling with my husband and sister and brother-in-law. We are in our early 60’s. We were on a cruise that ended in Venice. I had emailed the hotel to ask how to get there. I got a very detailed reply and we found the hotel very easily. It was a flat, (no bridges to cross), five minute walk from the water bus stop. As we each had large suitcases this was great. We arrived in the morning and were greeted by the owners and were told our rooms were ready. We were given maps of Venice with the hotel’s information on them. We were shown the locations of a few nearby restaurants. The rooms were very spacious and clean. The security was good and we felt totally safe in the area. Even though it was late October, we were able to sit out on the open veranda in the daytime. The hotel was very quiet at night. The breakfast was basic but adequate. The only limitation was that the only gluten-free option was yogurt. We had known this ahead of time though. Walking to all the sites in Venice was easy and getting back to the hotel through the labyrinth of lanes was made easier by the fact that the hotel is located near the only hospital in Venice. We just had to look for the hospital signs or ask people to direct us to the hospital! All of us agreed that we would stay here again if ever we were in Venice.

Clean, basic comfortable accomodations at a reasonable price. Proprietor is sincerely concerned with your satisfaction. Location is great considering proximity to the water taxi especially when your lugging suitcases. Quick walk to St Marks Square.

Owner’s wife was very helpful. She served breakfast on outdoor patio each day. She showed us areas to visit on the map and where to get the vaparetto. The room was clean. Hotel was close to vaparetto station. Enjoyed our stay. We’re confused as to how to check in. Needed to buzz for owners wife to open door. Then go up stairs and the key was in our door. We enjoyed our stay and were very satisfied with the hotel.

Nice quiet place.
We had a nice stay at this hotel. The breakfast was nice and the staff was awesome. The location is not too far from the main sights but still a long walk. I recommend staying at this hotel if you want to stay away from the crowds and have a nice quiet night sleep.

What a great place to stay. Despite being our first trip to Venice and everyone telling us how e say it is to get lost we found the stay pretty easy and used public water transport to get their from the railway station. Great hosts, with a nice breakfast made for us - all in the ambiance of a outdoor rooftop terrace. Room was excellent with own shower etc. We would definitely stay here again.

Great hospitality from the host, Yii. Eventhough they are not available to entertain us during arrival, they gave a complete and easy instructions on how to get to the hotel and how to get in. Plus, the host is reachable through calls and texts. And not to mention the vaporetto stop(Ospedale) is only 2 mins walk away.

Our stay was absolutely comfortable - the place is clean and warm, the breakfast was very food and the hosts were very nice and polite. It is in a good area with a water bus stop nearby or about 20 mins walk from San Marco with lots of restaurants and shops along the way. The house and rooms are not new, but are kept clean. Indeed the location of breakfast area in the entre is a bit strange, vut this is how the whole available space was utilized. Overall our stay was wonderful, don’t expect luxury, but the value for money for this expensive-accomodation-city is great!

We had an excellent stay. Fausto contacted us before arrival with details and giving both his and his wife's phone number. The room was sufficient for our needs and the fridge contained two bottles of wine at very reasonable prices which were very welcome. Breakfast was adequate and Yii was very attentive and helpful. The location is conveniently close to Ospedale Vaporetto stop and only 15 minutes from the main attractions. We would stay again.

We loved the fact that the hotel was so close to all the activity and sights of Venice as well as the water buses, if a little difficult to find among Venices maze of alleys! Bed was comfortable and room was clean and quiet. Breakfast was just enough to keep us going every day. Staff were great and were really helpful in giving us directions around Venice.

Ants everywhere!
Hotel was close to the water taxi and somewhat of a quick ride to airport. The hotel itself was small. Tons of ants everywhere. Breakfast was a joke, a coffee with toast and butter. They also had yogurt and a pastry. Not much of a breakfast. The ants disgusted us the most. Would have stayed elsewhere because of the ants.

Dear Mr. Anonymous, please let me reply to your unfair comment. Our property is not a hotel but a guesthouse. Our breakfast is comprised by: coffee or tea or cappuccino or hot chocolate, rolls with assorted jams and butter, orange juice, plum cake, Nutella, small cheese and yogurt; therefore it is more than adequate to start the day. We clean all of our rooms on a daily basis so telling that you found ants everywhere is pure fantasy. We would have been really happy to check your room if you have just reported us this "problem", but you dot even dare to write your name in this comment. I am usually really patient to reply to the rare negative feedbacks but this one is so full of falsehood that it was such a hard task for me. To the readers of this website I recommend to check the other dozens of positive feedbacks that we got from our guests. I furthermore suggest to see our average rating that actually is 8.8 on 10.00. We loved Alloggi Barbaria. The hosts were friendly and we loved eating breakfast on the terrace. Fausto was very accommodating and even picked up stamps for us while he was out. The room was spacious and clean. We loved that the hotel was located in a residential area, off the beaten path but only a 15 minute walk to all of the sights. There is a grocery store nearby as well as a vaporetto stop, so it made our stay in Venice easy and convenient. We will definitely stay at Alloggi Barbaria the next time we are in Venice. Grazie!!

Host was extremely helpful and kind. Would absolutely recommend this hotel. Location is super; close enough to easily get to all the hot spots, but far enough away to avoid crowd noise. Supermarket nearby, and close to Ospedale boat stop.

Very nice, simple hotel within short walking distance to all the best attractions of Venice. Everything was very clean both in our room and in the dining area. The breakfast provided was the perfect portion to fill us up until lunch. There are also some really great restaurants in the lovely quiet streets close to the hotel that many people do not go to because they aren’t in the busy touristy area. We also found directions to the hotel very easy to follow, which was lucky because our flight was delayed and we didn’t arrive until well after dark.

We stayed for 3 nights. The location is OK. It is next to a supermarket and water bus stop. Initially we are happy with the stay as they clean the room everyday. But we found a lot of ants and some spiders around the room. In the last night of the stay, all of us got some bug bites. very disappointing.

As we clean all of our rooms on a daily basis and every room has a device against mosquitoes, you had some bug bites simply because you left the windows open (instead of turning on the air conditioning) and you did not plug in the device. A strange set up with all the rooms arranged around the dining area. Nevertheless it was quiet and comfortable and handy for all attractions. Owner Fausto was lovely and helpful. Not the lap of luxury but well worth what we paid. Would return.

Unfussy hotel - great location
Located close to Ospedale made getting there from the airport by water bus super easy. Perfectly situated for exploring the city and away from the inflated prices closer to St Marks. Clean, quiet and comfortable with a simple breakfast included - a good start to every day. Our hosts were lovely with a recommendation for a restaurant close by that turned out to be one of the highlights of our trip. Highly recommended.

No fuss in checking in, all worked like clockwork. The room was large and very clean. It was in a quiet area but not far to walk to anywhere. Its no frills but that's reflected in the price. But if you want a clean, en-suite room with plenty of towels and hot water then I would have no problem in recommending the place. Ohh and there is a good Wi-Fi service!
