Overnight stay here. There is a shuttle bus service but it is not clear from booking how to access this. Onsen is further out of town than I expected. Clean comfortable hotel. Friendly staff helpful staff. Restaurant ok for dinner. Onsen use good and certainly an experience for the uninitiated such as myself. Suffice amenities in a small comfortable room. Good wifi.
Beautiful, quaint onsen hotel. Peaceful and very clean. 7-11 just outside of the hotel. We did not use the onsen and lounge. Room is very clean and comfortable.
The hotel is very Japanese classic, you need to take off your shoes and store it at the entrance. Besides that, it is great! The staffs there are super friendly; The hot spring is definitely top tier, with nature spring hot water in. Room is also Japanese style, room is spacious and cozy. The only thing that need to notice is that the area does not have much public transportation or taxi services, you can ask the front desk to call a taxi for you, but need to prepare additional waiting time.
The room was good, but too hot for my liking and it was very noisy when windows were open due to train/subway, trucks and cars making so much noise all night.
The hotel is freshly renovated. The rooms are comfortable and have everything you’d need/expect (the view of the ocean is a nice bonus as the other side faces a busier road and might not be as quiet).
The restaurant is great. Tasty food. Classic dishes, including the local cod roe spaghetti (highly recommend).
Access to the onsen is such a nice perk of staying here. So relaxing after a long day of hiking and exploring Hokkaido.
Having a 7 11 a 2 minute walk across the parking lot is so convenient for practically anything you need.
The town of Kojohama is cute but doesn’t have much going on otherwise. So to get out of town (without a car) you have the train station. It seems to be served by local trains, which don’t stop very frequently. However - and this is a big perk of staying here - the hotel offers a free shuttle bus to the 10 mins away town of Noboribetsu. Not only is that town (really the onsen town up in the mountains, for which you can get an easy bus) a destination itself, the train station there is very well served and thereby you can get all over this part of the island.
The staff are super friendly, even if some of them don’t know English well.
Incredibly difficult to deal with when trying to modify reservations, even within the designated “changeable” period. To their credit, Expedia made an effort to negotiate a refund, but the hotel’s management remained rigid and unwilling to accommodate even reasonable requests. Customer service was dismissive, showing little regard for guest satisfaction. It was clear that policies were being enforced with no flexibility or consideration for circumstances.
The area around the hotel is desolate and uninteresting, offering little in terms of dining or entertainment options. It lacks the charm or convenience one would expect from a well-located accommodation.
I would not recommend this hotel in any way. The only redeeming aspect was its traditional Japanese breakfast, which was well-prepared and authentic. However, a single meal does not make up for the overall poor experience.
