"Bed Bugs We were supposed to stay for a week at the lodge but we had to cut our stay short on the very first night because of a bed bug crawling on the pillow. There was no emergency/out of hours number to contact on the night so we had to find last minute accommodation. In the morning, I spoke to the manager. I informed them of the bed bug currently held under a glass in our room. I asked if they wanted to see it but they did not want to. I was told it may not be a bed bug and that they need to get pest control in to verify. I have taken the attached video and photos so we may not forget what was on scene. I asked for a refund for our stay or for some compensation but they would not do so. They also said that even if it was a bed bug there needs to be an infestation of hundreds before they consider offering a refund. They did not apologise and there seemed to be no remorse in their tone or words. In fact their reaction seemed scripted like they have had this problem before. They simply told me no refunds and they'll get pest control in that day or soon after. This was on Thursday morning. I am writing this review on Monday, 4 days after the event. They told me they would email me with updates: they have not. Either they are keeping the bed bug alive until pest control arrive, or I dread to think they have disposed of the bed bug before pest control arrive. I am still open to a refund if they choose to contact me. I have more to say but I've reached the character limit"

Drayton Manor Hotel

"This is our third stay at the hotel, and we always find it enjoyable and great value. Our only criticism this time would be that they were quite slow to replenish the breakfast buffet, despite us having breakfast during one of the earlier, quieter slots. All staff were friendly and helpful and clearly working hard, but our experience at the Drayton Manor theme park later that day led us to suspect there may be a resort wide issue with staffing levels, which is a shame because that was the only thing that prevented our stay being rated five stars."

"Booked through hotel.com. Arrived at the hotel was informed that the kitchen was off so I’d need to go elsewhere to eat or order a takeaway. Got into the room to be greeted by bodily fluid stains on the bedding, black mould on the shower walls, more mould on the window, a bathroom sink that looked like a scene from Saltburn and a shower base that was collapsing. Went down stairs, to ask for another room and they were full booked. Asked to speak to the manager who was in a meeting at 18:45. Rejected the room. Called hotel.com who told me to go and find somewhere else and they would deal with the property. 5 days later and the property haven’t answered a single email or call from myself or Hotel.com which means according to hotel.com’s policy means they are allowed to keep your money. Do yourself a favour and keep your money in your pocket."

New Hall Hotel & Spa

"Beautiful old main building and well constructed new wing that blended seamlessly with the old main Hall. However, due to the layout and lack of lifts it meant a really long walk from our room to the main reception area. The Hotel seemed to have a lack of staff - the very nice mature lady at reception, was multitasking and ended up carrying our bags up to the room. This staff shortage manifested itself later when we went to have dinner - to be told that the gas was off in the kitchen and therefore they could only serve cold food. A complaint - but not necessarily to the limited staff, was to the guests that stubbed their cigarette butts out on the lawn by the outside terrace - unacceptable behaviour. All in all - beautiful location but only an acceptable level of service and facilities - the public rooms were dated and more resembled the local golf club. It could be so much better."
