When we arrived we were told that they were over booked and they would get us a room at a hotel that was several miles away. We told them that we specifically selected this hotel because of it's location. We gave them our Hotel.com confirmation number but they said that they do not honor Hotel.com because they have no contract with Hotel.com. An hour later, after a lot of argueing, we finally got a room.
This has never happened to us in the past when we reserved a room through Hotel.com. We think they overbooked because it was a holiday weekend. Their plan was to push us out to a cheaper hotel and rent the room for more money to someone else. There was a Canadian couple that was treated like us. They going to move them to a cheaper hotel several miles away. After a lot of argueing, we all had rooms. This shouldn't happen.
