Carmel Wayfarer Inn
10/10 Excellent
"We've been staying at the Carmel Wayfarer for years now. I love how dog friendly it is, and I also love the location. It is just a bit away from the really busy part of town and it's a very nice walk downhill to the beach, weaving through the neighborhood and ending up at a path through the dunes that leads to a few flights of stairs down. It's harder going back up, of course, but I just love where it deposits you on the beach. The price is right and I love the upgrades they've made so it's no longer wall-to-wall carpet which gets kind of gross in a beach town. Love the Wayfarer! I can't afford it during the peak times, but find it affordable at other times."

"We had two rooms and one guest found it a bit noisy at night. About 1km from shops (2km from beach). Bed was comfy but room a bit dark. Basic but pleasant. WiFi patchy."
Tradewinds Carmel

"We had an ocean view. We enjoyed sitting on the balcony. Just know the view has power lines and other buildings in the front of Ocean. Room was nice, but warm and a bit musty smelling. They do have fans to help with the air movement. Loved our morning breakfast delivery. The croissants were amazing! We would stay here again."

"Gorgeous grounds and views of the Pacific Ocean and sunset. Very nice restaurant, great wine list, lovely view. Staff was helpful and cheerful. Easy mile or so to downtown Carmel."
The Quail

"The Quail is a very nice hotel, but unless you're into golf, there's not much to see or do there. Carmel is about 15 minutes away by car, but if you just want to step outside the hotel and walk to nearby stores or attractions, there aren't any. The facilities and housekeeping were excellent - our only complaint is that the toilet was incredibly low-height - potentially a problem for people with creaky knees."

"very friendly front desk staff when we checked in after 9 pm. our room had the most amazing view and huge balcony, which was a nice surprise. breakfast is ok, nothing special. the bagged eggs freak me out, so i just ate cereal. there were only 2 options for cereal."
