"The room was clean and spacious. The staffs were friendly. The food was delicious. I would definitely go back♨️. You must like Japanese food, though."
"We had a great stay at this hotel. It is right on a bus route with the stop right in front of the hotel. The included dinner and breakfast was also amazing, with traditional and western options for breakfast. Try the Hakone loop bus, boat, rope line (ie gondola) and cable car attraction when you’re staying. "
"if you want to live in a Japanese-style hotel, look no further. The facilities and staff are outstanding. Tatami floors. Futon beds. Serene property. Hot outdoor soaking tubs. A really nice change of pace from Tokyo. "

"We absolutely loved our stay!! The room was beautiful, the onsens are incredible, the buffet breakfast was delicious and the service was fantastic! We stayed 2 nights, which I highly recommend to experience the hotel and Hakone properly. The only thing we didn’t love was the Kaiseki dinner - the food quality didn’t seem to be quite up to standard compared to everything else we ate at the hotel and seafood was already on the table when we arrived (it was even sitting out already for the next seating in 2 hours), which was a little off putting. "
"Beautiful, classically decorated interior spaces and my room looked at an area of forest covered mountain. Breakfast was lovely with a nice mix of Japanese and western selections (and a beautifully decorated cappuccino). Staff was incredibly friendly at check-in and check out. Room was clean and elegantly appointed. The bathroom was unbelievable Overhead rain shower and a soaking bath. Immaculate tiles. Main drawback is that the hotel is situated at the end of a fairly poor street in an urban area without any access to green space (the mountain behind the property is quite steep and without any walking area). "
"friendly helpful staff, luxurious onsen, comfortable beds in a spacious room, great location for exploring Hakone, games and toys for kids, lots of books in various languages for readers of all ages, delicious snacks and sweets, generous open-bar happy hour(s), and an excellent, excellent breakfast —I travel fairly often, and Hakone Yutowa really was one of the very best hotels that I’ve ever stayed in.
My only suggestion is that they might consider adding a fitness room. "
"Beautiful historic hotel in the Hakone area with a great legacy. Excellent food and service, nice rooms and a beautiful interior and external grounds. One of the best hotels in Japan."
"This was our third time staying at Hakone Gora KARAKU, and it’s still one of our favorite places in Hakone. The location is super convenient—just a short walk from Gora Station.
We booked a room with a semi-open private onsen tub, which my wife really enjoyed. I spent more time in the public baths with sauna and steam (they switch each night). It was never crowded, so it felt peaceful and relaxing.
The lounge was fine—coffee was delicious, but snacks were pretty limited.
Our stay included Japanese-style breakfast and kaiseki dinner both nights. The food was absolutely delicious, beautifully plated, and served at a nice, relaxed pace.
The staff were friendly, professional, and helpful—exactly what you’d expect from great Japanese hospitality.
We keep coming back because the mix of comfort, great food, relaxing baths, and welcoming service is hard to beat. Already looking forward to the next trip!"
"We loved the Japanese tradition of this hotel. The location was beautiful and beside a golf course. The onsen was stunning. The location was a bit tricky but busing and tacos are options to head into Gora for restaurants. "
"We really enjoyed this hotel. It was very well appointed and had everything we needed. There was even a private onsen off the shower room. The hotel was very accommodating with a shuttle to pick us up and drop us off. It was a great experience. Would definitely stay here again and recommend to others."

"Great for families looking for some traditional serenity. Tucked away with ability to book private onsen. Yes as a base when exploring Hakone, but get ready to walk."
