Chateau experience
Can highly recommend pool, ambience, reception, courtesy of staff. Breakfast needs a little updating to be in line with dinner standard. However I would return despite the enjoyable but pricey evening meal.

Sneaky weekend in the mountains
We had a lovely time. The hotel rooms were typical French shabby chic, it was perfectly located for us - out of the town, quiet with plenty of space to walk our dogs. The landscape around was breathtaking with plenty of activities available. The little holiday town was perfect - had everything you needed I Mc using a choice of restaurants to suit all budgets and was quaintly attractive. The hotel restaurant was very good and not expensive, breakfast average. The Indoor pool was lovely, new, clean and warm. The outdoor pool wasn’t open as it was not warm enough at the time we went and it was being renovated. The only real negative was despite advertising free wifi throughout the hotel reality was it rally was only accessible in the public rooms. The staff were very accommodating so that we could watch the Grand Prix on the tv in one of the public rooms.

The place is beautiful but the food and service at the restaurant are poor which is very hard to find in this region Reception is inefficient

Beautiful Chateau with excellent restaurant
Loved the quaint converted monastery that was Chateau d'Ayres. After a stressful drive (not realising how scary the drive to the Chateau would be for someone who is scared of heights) we relaxed in the lovely pool during the July heat wave. The rooms were quaint (the bed head upholstery matched the wallpaper!!) with a big king size bed, but no fan or air conditioning. This was no particularly a problem, even in the middle of the heat wave, as the Chateau kept itself cool. The bathroom was large. The restaurant was AMAZING and I definitely recommend it.

Worth finding
The hotel is off the beaten track but is definitely worth finding. The staff are delightful, the restaurant is lovely and the grounds are very peaceful with the only noise we could hear being cow bells or birds.

Charming old building, quaintly appointed. Recently-built indoor pool a sound investment but is a consistent 5 feet deep and has no gulley around the edge to hang on to, off-putting for nervous bathers or short people. Staff helpful, when they can be found.

Disappointing!
We spent four days in the Gorge du Tarn and spent two nights in the Chateau D'Ayres. We were very disappointing in the accommodations. The rooms were clean, but very shabby. There were threadbare carpets and chairs throughout the hotel. In general, the place had the aura of an inn that was once great, but now had fallen on harder times and was in a state of disrepair. Also I would not recommend eating in the restaurant. Breakfast was massively overpriced for the quality. At least, the staff were generally courteous. Overall, this hotel does not deserve 4 stars. We were much happier in a smaller hotel in Peyreleau that was superior on basically all dimensions while also being cheaper. It was also in an old historic building, but every aspect of it was nicer and it included an excellent breakfast. If you come to the Gorge to climb, hike, or canoe, I would recommend staying closer as well.

Really interesting place, pity about the WiFi
Hi - we wanted to stay 2 nights, but had to leave because we couldn't get Internet access. Disappointed! It looked really interesting, and dinner was excellent - but the lazy holiday was cut short because the internet access in hotels in that area was down. A shame - we wanted to stay!

Fairy tale Chateau!
Really enjoyed our stay. Thought the Chateau was in good condition considering we were staying in a 7th century building even though it had been knocked down and reconstructed quite a few times! The meal in the Restaurant was superb and one of the best we have had In France! Service was a little slow but we just enjoyed the ambience and in fairness they were very busy as the chateau was full!

Court mais excellent séjour bucolique
Dans une ambiance presque familiale ou même les animaux se sentent bien, dotée d’un accueil conviviale, distingué et de qualité, mais sans suffisance. Une très belle table aussi, dans un excellent rapport qualité prix comme l’ensemble de l’établissement. Superbes terrasse et parc.

Château élégant et de caractère au cœur des Causses, le château d’Ayres est un lieu unique et rare. Décoration soignée, charme d’antan et cuisine goûteuse.

Hôtel vieux, sale, mal entretenu, la chambre délabrée, la tête de lit déchirée, prendre une douche est très dangereux ! Les jardins abandonnés, l'entrée pas balayée depuis???? Seul chose bien le restaurant. Pas de cafetière, pas de bouilloire, très loin d'un 4 étoiles !

Pour un quatre étoiles déçus, même pas de quoi se faire un café ou thé dans chambre, aucune explication à notre arrivée, petit déjeuner cher, et repas non variés, nous y sommes restés une semaine menus identiques, manque d'espace détente extérieur avec chaises longues... Pas de bar, bref pour nous beaucoup de choses à revoir et prix excessif par nuit par rapport aux prestations

Een prima ervaring, maar toch...
In het algemeen voldeed het hotel aardig aan onze verwachtingen: 2 km. vanaf het zeer gezellige, behoorlijk toeristische centrum (veel wandelaars, fietsers en motorrijders) en vele gezellige terrassen tegen zeer betaalbare prijzen en goede service. Het hotel is zeer rustig gelegen, mooi park (matig onderhouden, jammer), mooi groot eetterras, prima parking, groots opgezet, veel kamers, alles "kasteelachtig" ingericht maar wel erg oubollig/vergane glorie. Je moet ervan houden... Kleine (standaard)kamer, zitje, prima (!) bedden, kleine badkamer, alles schoon. Iedereen zeer vriendelijk. Een vijfsterrenhotel. Maar dat geldt vooral voor de prijzen. Die staan in geen verhouding tot het fysieke aanbod. Alleen a la carte mogelijkheden, fors geprijsd, geen menu's. Ontbijtbuffet 15€ p/p. Kortom, voor een tussenstop was het prima, maar als je er ook nog ontbijt en dineert met wijn, dan wordt een nachtje wel heel erg duur. Maar toch een prima ervaring.

Bel endroit de charme à recommander
Une très belle étape sur le chemin du retour vers la Suisse. Magnifique endroit plein de charme service impeccable par de jeunes serveurs et serveuses très attentionnés. Un reproche: les vins (au vert trop cher pour la qualité de même que le cognac très ordinaire à 15€.
