Best Western, Monterey Bay Coastal Trail hotels

"The hotel was conveniently located at the corner of the intersection and also next to a gas station, making it easy to find. However, it’s not walking distance to downtown Carmel. Parking was easy and plentiful, but it’s not free, and they don’t offer free continental breakfast. They charge $30 a day for parking, which is one of my biggest pet peeves. They also added extra hotel fees and parking tax at the end, in addition to the Hotels.com hotel fees. It’s clear they’re trying to squeeze every penny out of you. Checking in was fast and easy, and the staff was very friendly and attentive. My girlfriend and I decided to dine at the restaurant for dinner, but it was overpriced. However, the young guy who served us was very professional and attentive, and he deserves five stars for his service. They also had live music, which was a nice touch. The overall hotel was very clean and modern, but you can see some aging to the walls and the building itself. The rooms were very clean and spacious, and the balcony was nice. However, the sliding glass door was a pain to open, i kept having to slam it shut multiple times because i was able to get the locking pin aligned with some make-shift holes that were carelessly drilled. Overall, my girlfriend and I had an enjoyable stay, but it was way too overpriced, the hidden fees and paling fee were not very pleasant. Lastly, the beds were not very comfortable, especially for someone with a sensitive back. I could only sleep for about 6 hour"

"the property grounds is beautiful, peaceful and well kempt. The rooms are nice as well, However, they are a little dated, especially in the bathrooms. Seems like a renovation is over-due and would greatly complement the rest of the property. I think it should be noted for any one who may have a tough time lifting bags or walking upstairs that the facilities does not appear to have elevators. at-least the didnt in the building i was in that looks directly over the pond."

"I stay here on every trip to Carmel/Monterey for three reasons: 1) Parking 2) Close to downtown 3) Reasonable rates The only negatives on this trip was no "Do not Disturb" placard available to use, and heavy footsteps above (maybe lack of sound insulation?)."

"Good value for the area. Walls are a little thin and air conditioner/heater noise from nearby room was super loud. Otherwise, good experience overall."

"The hotel is very convenient and very nice. Our room was a tiny one but it had what it needed, clean linens and a clean bathroom. The public parking lot a half a block away was surprising easy to get in and out of. Maybe we got lucky finding a space there when we needed one since it was easily the least expensive part of the weekend. Parking is free after 6pm and free on Sunday’s. "

"If you are looking for a luxury stay and beach view, look somewhere else. My family visited from out of state and was looking for the stay by the beach kind of experience. Unfortunately this hotel markets that but provides something else. The property is in a deteriorating condition (see attached images) , no AC, no heating, no television, no mini fridge available, molded bathroom tiles, peeling toilet seat, old blankets, detached wall paper, most likely it’s never been remodeled since it was built . Ah don’t let me forget the parking lot maze. The rooms are more cabin like with a beautiful beach only at 10 minute walk. So if you dont mind the old building smell and look, this is a great place to enjoy a beautiful day at the beach! "
