We totally enjoyed our stay here at this hotel. We had a little trouble finding the front door, but other than that, we love our stay. We arrived at 10 AM, were informed that we can only check in at 2 PM. So we dropped off our luggage, and head out to the street shops and to have lunch. The shop-street takes about 10 mins walk. We had lunch at the little soba shop (buckwheat noodle served cold or hot), it was delicious. Though, those with bigger appetite should order the set that comes with shrimp tempura and cold soba. We got back to the hotel around 3pm, the rooms (we had 6 in our party) were ready, and our luggage were already there. One of the room is a huge tatami room (straw mat where one sleeps on futon ) that could fit 5-6 futons. It smelled of new straw too. The other room was a corner room that has a balcony, a queen size bed, a dinning room, and a tatami room that could fit 3 futons. The rooms included dinner and breakfast, both had tons of tiny dishes, but one does gets filled up and it was delicious. We also enjoyed the onsen tremendously. Both male and female sides have outdoor onsens, and they switch sides at midnight, so you can see different scenery. The spring waters were pump from underground, contain lots of mineral and has that iconic volcanic smell of sulfur. So the water was grey-ish and murky. The shampoos for body and hair and conditioners were of high quality. Expensive stay but very enjoyable.
