"The room was clean, the lake view from my room was pretty nice, the restaurants' staff were very friendly and attentive, the overall atmosphere was good and the hotel was not overly crowded. Great that there is an Eska spa in the hotel as well. However, there was this female frontdesk staff who was a little rude - on one of the days, I went down to the frontdesk to ask her about what the complimentary coupon for the lobby bar entails. The next morning I called the reception to check if the mini bar was complimentary, apparantly that same female staff was on duty, and she must have heard it wrongly the first day and thought I was asking about the mini bar again, so she told me in a very sassy tone that she "ALREADY TOLD ME" that it was complimentary. I went on to explain that on the previous day, I was actually asking about the lobby bar, not the mini bar in the room, but she continued to argue with me. I felt that even if there wasn't a miscomm, she should have been more patient if a guest were to ask the same question. However, in my case it was two different qns. She should keep that attitude and tonality in check, and probably be retrained. If the frontdesk struggles to answer questions from guests, I suggest that the hotel should put small notes in the room to indicate such things, or have the frontdesk staff inform us upon arrival. Details like pool operating hours and mini-bar were left out etc."

"Unexpected stay. Very clean, modern , new. Price was reasonable. Felt safe. Although my room faces the entrance and street light, the windows were quite sound proof. "

"This is my 2nd stay with Aston Inn Gideon Batam over the past 2 months. It's not an overstatement to say that they are the best hotel in the Penuin area. Surrounded by massage centers within 200m, most crowned with an average rating of 4.9 stars on Google Reviews, if you're prepared to be blown away by massage paradise, this is the place to be. The restaurant within the hotel only serves breakfast, but you will be spoilt for choices with great tasting local food, all within walking distance at any time of the day. The sound insulation of the hotel room was exceptional as we were not able to hear the slightest noise at all from outside the windows, the corridors and the neighboring rooms. View was not a priority for us at all, the hotel was neither situated by the sea nor was it a tall building. So, please do not expect any breathtaking views, we're just thankful that it let's in enough sunlight. TL;DR? This hotel is best for location, good service, location, great comfort, convenience, excellent value and most importantly, location."
