Not so worth with the price because I have stayed better nearby.
- no big bath towel
- limited shower
- no hot water for basin
- check out time at 9am which is too early

Here is ok
It is ok as it is. But when I wanted to use the snack machine at down stair. It is not work. And I think it would have ping pong table there as I known before. But it was not available there. So, it a bit disappointed me.
Anyway, the private onsen is really nice. We love it.
Thank you
Excelente lugar.
We liked the experience of this ryokan for the two nights we booked and the 3 onsen tubs were very relaxing although busy at certain times in evening and mornings. The traditional breakfast was a good experience and the elderly owners were sincere. The beds were very thin pads we had to roll out on the floor ourselves and pillows uncomfortable so did not have good sleep. Expedia website says it is within the city of Takayama but is actually a 1 hour bus ride into the mountains. It is also not an adult only facility and we found the price much higher during the golden holidays than it was worth.
Had a great stay in Hirayu. Ryoso Tsuyukusa is very convenient to bus stop and easy to walk to many attractions. Was there for a special festival at the shrine 3 blocks away. Public onsen really nice. Outside onsen at lodging was great. Food really good. Owners nice--speak very little English but we got along fine. Would stay again there.
Gorgeous place with lots of character. If you get in late and need to call ahead be aware no English is spoken so get a local to assist you with the call is possible. If you sleep in and miss breakfast there is great food within walking distance, right near the bus station.

Bad customer service
Refused to work around my delayed rail pass. Wouldn't reschedule my stay or refund me in the least bit. Very dissapointed.
It is a very basic ryokan hotel. Probably the closest experience you can get for traditional ryokan stay where owner will cook and prepare things for u. Do note that they are not able to speak much english. Onsen tub is private and for small group.

Dated Traditional Japanese house
Small hotel hidden in a small alley and difficult to find by GPS or google map. Its easier to spot the supermarket with the same name and the hotel (small alley) is directly across the road.
