"It was very special experience to stay at Japanese traditonal house with my family. It was a little bit far from the main sightseeing site but we were ok because we had a car. Kinkakuji was especially awesome."

"This Kyoto hostel completely overturned my impression of local accommodations being typically cramped. Very clean and comfortable. High-quality beddings. The living room was surprisingly spacious—easily accommodating our big group with over ten large suitcases! Located near Fushimi Inari Shrine and Tofukuji Temple, it was very peaceful at night. We had brought thick bedding, worried that Kyoto might be cold, but the rooms were extremely comfortable. "The house was great and in perfect condition.
Great location as it is 3 min from the Inari shrine and close to the train station which is always helpful.
Nothing to complain about except 1 thing: there was no pool table as shown on the photos and we were not told about it. The guy who gave us the keys told us it is being fixed, which is fine but we would have prefered to know beforehand as we were very excited about it.

"The premium suite was large, comfortable and extremely well-appointed with everything you might need. The location is a bit away from the major tourist spots but it’s quite close to Toji Station and only one stop from Kyoto Station. "

"Great spot to stay at if you are driving all over Kyoto. They have their own parking spots. The place was really spacious and offered free bikes to use around town. They even have a washer and dryer. I’ll definitely come back!"

"Perfect room for a family of four with four extremely comfortable single beds and 2 bathrooms as well. Excellent location and facilities and great design and vibe. Highly recommend. "
"Room was great, loved being able to do laundry. Staff were extremely nice and accommodating. Close to subway station and bus stops and main markets. "
"Easy location to walk to once you arrive to Kyoto station - even with suitcases and backpacks. No cab needed as it’s barely a five minute walk.
Breakfast in my opinion is a case of quantity over quality and I’ve preferred the breakfast at other places we stayed where there is not as much variety but it’s high quality. In saying that, I take my hat off to the chefs who prepare so much food every day for all the guests. It would be literally impossible to deliver that much food at a high quality so it’s definitely not a criticism of their efforts.
The onsen was extremely busy so not as relaxing as I’d expected so only went once during our five night stay, which was a shame. The massage chairs are a great addition as an alternative and the hot drinks were great to have available all the time.
Very glad we included this hotel to get a slightly more authentic Japanese experience, but was very glad to see a more familiar bed and pillow once we got to Osaka.
Extremely hectic hotel in a convenient location and the staff do a great job of keeping it in order.
If you want a great place to eat try the Gyukatsu Kyoto that’s a two minute walk down the road. Amazing beef!"
"I'm so happy that we picked this hotel. While not the least expensive place in Kyoto, it was definitely worth the money spent. Our room was not facing the street, so bear that in mind since it is located on a busy street. The room was very quiet and very clean. We had a three bed hotel room and they provided a sleepshirt/yukata for each member of the family. The bathroom very clean and had one of the Toto bidet seats which was a plus for my wife.
The room itself was pretty roomy for a Japanese hotel.
The staff was extremely helpful. My limited Nihongo would have been issue, but fortunately several of the staff spoke English.
The big plus was that the hotel had a European style bakery (Cicon), so you could have a light breakfast and coffee. The baguette was nice. They also have some unique Japanese flavored breads for sale. If you're adventurous, go for it.
There is also a rooftop bar, but it was busy the time we visited so we didn't get a chance to sit up there.
There is a self paid laundry on site.
The hotel is about a 15 minute walk to the Kiyomizu temple and a 7 minute walk to the Kyomizu-Gojo subway station, so your tourist spots are very walkable via the local transportation.
Oh, btw, there is a nice India/Bagladeshi restaurant called Chakra around the block. The owner speaks english and we had a great conversation with him."
"Our stay at Cross Hotel Kyoto was excellent from start to finish. The location is perfect for exploring the city, with everything easily accessible.
What really stood out was the comfort and thoughtful design. The room felt modern, spacious, and incredibly well laid out. Small details made a big difference—from the separate toilet and bathroom to lighting in the toilet space that gradually brightens instead of turning on harshly. Everything felt intuitive and well considered.
The bed and blankets were especially comfortable, and the bathroom had plenty of counter space—something that’s surprisingly rare. Overall, there was genuinely nothing I disliked. I would absolutely stay here again."
"Rooms were clean and well kept. Staff is very helpful and friendly.
Breakfast vouchers are for the Sizzler's down stairs.
Getting updated coin washers and dryers would be a great help to the guests. Took us and several others hours of waiting for a dryer then hours to actually dry.
Sad the Godzilla patio wasn't open.
Was told that someone tried to climb up the Godzilla head so they have closed it until further notice."
"The onsen is a great feature after a long walk. There were no facial skin care in the room like the other hotels in Japan. The sink is within the room so you will hear anyone brushing their teeth or blow drying."
