Love movies? Then don't miss a visit to Universal Studios, a real working film studio and thrilling theme park in one.

Since 1915, visitors have flocked to experience the thrill of the movies at Universal Studios. Back then, guests were charged 25 cents to watch silent movie scenes being filmed: now, you might not see a film being made – and you are charged a lot more! - but the studios offer a whole day or more's worth of entertainment. The star attractions are the adrenaline-pumping rides, many of which are based on favourite family films and television shows that have been made by Universal. Come face to face with King Kong 360 3-D, created by the film's director Peter Jackson, and touted as the world’s largest, most intense 3-D experience. Fans of the Mummy films shouldn't miss the world’s scariest indoor roller coaster: Revenge of the Mummy – The Ride. Adults and kids alike will love experiencing life with the Simpsons on a revolutionary virtual roller coaster. The studio has also recently announced plans for a Harry Potter ride.Film buffs will find the Studio Tour fascinating, with a tram ride through one of Hollywood's most famous back lots. The tour takes you through 13 city blocks on 1.6 hectares of historic studio lot in the largest set construction project in studio history, built with creative consultation from Steven Spielberg himself. Comedian Jimmy Fallon introduces entertaining clips seen on HD monitors in the trams to augment the live Studio Tour guide narration. Some of the highlights include a visit to Wisteria Lane, setting of the hit series Desperate Housewives, and an eerie encounter with Norman Bates at the legendary Bates Motel from Psycho.Universal's CityWalk is the place to head for a bite to eat. Here you will find three blocks of entertainment, shopping and dining adjacent to the park with more than 30 places to eat, six nightclubs, a 19-screen theatre with state of the art IMAX® and more than 30 shops.Universal Studios is open daily and is located 16 kilometres northwest of downtown Los Angeles.
