Shrigley Hall Hotel and Spa

Shrigley Hall Hotel and Spa

8/10 Good
"Absolutely beautiful building, set in its own grounds. The building was stunning. The staff were lovely friendly and professional. I left my handbag in the restaurant - didnโ€™t discover Iโ€™d forgotten it until after we left the following morning. Returned safe and sound and fully intact! Evening meal at the restaurant was great, Excellent food. Brilliant service. The only things which let it down were the massive whole in the restaurant ceiling which had been temporarily sealed with plastic and wood. Our bin hadnโ€™t been emptied in our hotel room. A few loose tiles in the bathroom. It just felt a little tired and unloved."

Old Hall Hotel

Old Hall Hotel

8/10 Good
"We had booked a twin room as we were attending an event at Buxton Opera House which is literally across the road. The room was clean and tidy. We had a bathroom with bath and shower over bath. The hotel is very old and itโ€™s showing signs of that in certain places. However it is being refurbished slowly I understand having been taken over by Champneys who own the Crescent Hotel which is next door. The breakfast was a good choice and tea and coffee were served promptly. We parked right outside which cost ยฃ6 for 24 hours. This enabled us to have a little bit of retail therapy after breakfast and before we left. I had read some horrendous reviews before I booked but knowing the area and thought I would make my own mind up about it. Everything was good given the age of the hotel and much better than using the clinical type hotels like Premier Inns. Itโ€™s full of character and history concerning Mary Queen of Scotts. Try it and make your own mind up."

"Good location for walking into Matlock Bath, 20 minute easy flat walk. Hotel has an on site Indian restaurant and bar but we werenโ€™t aware so didnโ€™t eat there as we had booked somewhere in town. Staff very friendly and helpful. Parking was good on hotel premises. Didnโ€™t have breakfast so canโ€™t comment. Itโ€™s not luxury but a good hotel in a good location with parking which is difficult to find in the area."

Casa Hotel

10/10 Excellent
"A very friendly and accommodating hotel. We loved staying at this place for 3 nights. The only downside was that on the last morning they did take away the breakfast menu selection without a reason. Then on our way out of the restaurant we noticed that some had been given a choice from the menu. Overall a great hotel though."
