"I enjoyed my time at The Angel Hotel, Cardiff. I agree with other people's comments that there is a musty smell when you walk in and you can hear people in the next room but the staff were brilliant. Joey on reception, Anton and the other chap in the bar and the lady housekeeper on my floor, were very accommodating, kind and helpful. The hotel is old and has character but could do with a refresh. It is not far from the centre but within walking distance of all the sites. I thought the food was good and the drinks were reasonably priced compared to a local bar round the corner. Had no probs with the wifi and no probs checking in a bit early. "

"I’ve stayed here a couple of times as location is super convenient next to train station and price is good but it’s really tired and rooms nearly always have issues. This time the curtain rail came off as I tried to draw the curtain. There was obviously a laundry room close by as all I could hear was the washing machine spinning all night and the bedding is really not very comfortable. I will stay again but it’s really nothing special. "

"Everything excellent clean and comfortable. The only exception was a non working above sink lamp, a shower head holder that did not hold the shower head in place."

"DISAPPOINTED. We have stayed at The Bristol Hotel numerous times and loved it. This time however was horrendous. There was a wedding downstairs which is fine, but the whole room was vibrating. mentioned this to room service which stated it doesn't go on for long, it did. The windows were like paper, we could hear everything on the street below so clearly that i thought the windows were open. i did mention this to front desk in the morning, the reply was slightly annoying considering how nice the chap was. It cant have been the wedding making the music noise and vibration. It most defiantly was. I understand that Bristol on a weekend is lively which i am not apposed to, but the windows being that bad really shouldn't be the case. Also, to be told that i was wrong felt a little rude. On that note the room service was incredible and the food that they delivered was amazing. The bad experience will make us think twice unfortunately about booking again, which is a shame as its a great hotel and we really like it. But room 223 is letting it down. "

"To start with, the staff were absolutely lovely. In particular the receptionist (I think her name was Ellie) was so so welcoming, friendly and helpful! The hotel was clean, facilities were great. The room its self was very large and spacious with loads of natural light. Plug sockets, a fridge, safe, iron with board and some really nice quality products in the bathroom for you to use. I can’t fault anything besides the bed itself. I honestly had a really poor nights sleep due to how firm and uncomfortable the bed was to the point I woke up early and debated leaving sooner. I ended up folding the duvet in half and trying to go back to sleep on top of this to add more cushioning underneath. I would stay again but would maybe book a different kind of room to see if this was the same issue throughout. Overall the hotel and staff were fantastic but the bed was not suitable at all and very uncomfortable. I would recommend the children’s play area and games corner me moved somehow as it looks a little crowded when arriving "

"Noisy room next to cleaning cupboard where was woken each morning at 5-6am. Room lost all power during the stay for a period resulting in having to sit in lobby to wait for power to be restored."
