Guest House Ouka is amazing!! The rooms and common area are very comfortable. The staff is so friendly and accomodating. They have tons of food and entertainment recommendations on the walls so I didn't have any worries about how to spend my time in Takayama. Lastly, they had unlimited free tea in the kitchen.

Excellent stay
Excellent reception service, kept our luggage safe with them when we arrived early and room was not ready and also on the way out kept our luggage till time for our trains. Very clean and comfortable rooms and bathrooms. Just 10 minutes walk from Station.

Convenient, clean, spacious
Great place to stay in Takayama. It is around 15 minutes’ walk from most points of interest: Takayama Station, the Miyagawa Morning Market, and the shopping street. (There were other hotels closer to the station, but 15 min walk is fine for me.) There’s a 7-eleven 2 minutes away. The staff are friendly and helpful. The lounge and kitchen/dining space on the main floor is spacious and was usually empty when I was there. I booked a single room and it was really spacious too. There were lots of power outlets in the room which was really nice. FYI, the pillow is pretty flat (common in Japan?) but I’m sure you could request another pillow. The rooms, bathrooms, shower rooms, and shared areas were clean. Maybe it was just my schedule, but there was no wait for the shower. I’d definitely consider staying here again if I was in Takayama.

A gem in Takayama
Amazing stay in this charming guest house. The owner is very sweet and helpful and has placed a lot of info about the general area as well as around the region in the common spaces. The place was spotless and the rooms were of ample size and nicely decorated. There's a 7 Eleven just across the street and it is walking distance to the Old town. Definitely recommended for a stay in Takayama!

Superb Apartment..
Good: When we arrived at the Guest House Ouka in Takayama we were disappointed to hear that the family room we booked had a shared bathroom with 5 other rooms. After a few minutes discussion we managed to upgrade to a larger room with 4 single beds, TV and cooking facilities and a huge PRIVATE bathroom and toilet – result!. The location of the property is about a 10 minute walk from the train and bus terminals and there is also a large supermarket within 10 minutes walk as well. Bad: Cant find any fault at all with the upgraded room at all.

such a pleasant stay, exceeds our expectation, staff very accomodating even leave a welcome message, the hostel is very clean and homey and is located within walking distance to the bus center with plenty of restaurants nearby and a convenience store beside it. you should check out this place.

Not bad for a short stay
The location is further from the station, but we have a car so that didn't really concern us as much. Even with the walk, it's only about 10-15 mins to the core of town. We have a private room and it's with the tatami mat. There are good info in the common area on area of interests which is great. The stay is good overall.

Great stay!
Great stay at guesthouse Ouka. Staff at reception was very friendly and helpful. We slept in a room with private bathroom. The room was clean and spacious. The walls are not exactly soundproof. Bathroom was excellent with a good shower. Takayama is small so the guesthouse is within a 10 to 15 minute walking distance of all the major sights.

Nice hostel in Takayama
This hostel is very nice and clean. The staff is very nice and there is a lot of space, including a kitchen and a living room. There, I met very friendly people (Japanese and foreigners), so I had a really nice stay.

This guest house was good. Staying on tatami using futon was also good. The tatami has a strong smell which took a bit of getting used too. The bathroom was very small. To get to the guest house was easy but slightly further away in a local neighbourhood area. It was walkable from the station with light baggage. It was easy to check in and out. A reasonable location but a little too far away from areas of interest.

Overall it was an extraordinary experience. Staff was very polite and helpful. We four friends shared one big room with four beds. we faced only one problem, For taking shower we had to go to first floor from forth floor coz there wasn't bathroom on our floor but they do have showers in single rooms. If I got the opportunity to visit Gifu prefecture again I would like to stay in this hotel only.

Wonderful stay!
Staff was friendly and helpful, they made us feel like home. Our room (Japanese style tatami mat with futons and bathroom) was spacious enough for three people and we enjoyed setting up our own futons. It was a quick walk to the train station/bus terminal and also to downtown were all the restaurants were located.

Modern and clean design hotel. Located just next to convenience store, clean washroom and bathroom, equipped kitchen It's good if you are in budget and need a place to overnight. Staff is helpful and able to communicate in English. Unfortunately it's very noisy on the night I stayed (even there's rules). Soundproof is really bad as you can hear clearly on the next door conversation and the packing-unpacking sound. No door (even for private room, but with curtain to separate) and you need to makeup your own bed.

The hostel is easy to find from the Takayama train station. The lady at the front desk spoke good English and was nice and helpful. There was tea in kitchen and little snacks in the lobby.

I stayed over one night to go to Shirakawago the next morning. The bed was SUPER hard, really bad, but they gave me extra futons to put on top of it, to make it softer for me. The staff was really kind and helpful. The room was private, but with only a curtain to separate your room from the hallway, no doors or locks. I found that a bit unsettling. But if you're on a budget and need to stay in a cheap room and you don't feel like sharing rooms with others, I think this is a good deal.

We had a 4 person Japanese style family room, with a private shower and toilet. The room was clean and spacious. The walls were thin and there was some noise from the adjoining room, but this was not a major problem The staff were very friendly and the hostel had a good atmosphere. The kitchen had a fridge/freezer, hob, microwave, grill/mini oven, kettle and coffee maker. Coffee, tea and basic cooking supplies such as oil and seasoning were provided. The hostel was in a good location, 10 minutes walk from the station and about 15 minutes to the old town. There was a convenience store next door and a large Valor supermarket about 10 minutes walk away.

Great guest house in Takayama
This is one friendly and great guesthouse. Stayed in one of their single dormitory rooms (no door, just a curtain). My single complain would be the huge group of rude people that were taking over the rest of the floor, but it's not the staffs fault. Bottomline, if you are a light sleeper please consider that you may get noise coming your way even in the private partitions.

Clean and cosy hotel with warm staff.
Relatively close to the main station (which was very important in the winter cold!). The girl at the reception was very friendly, chatty and helpful. There was a really nice communal area on the ground floor. We also had a nice hand-written welcoming message and paper crane in our room when we arrived. The room and bathroom were warm, clean and comfy. You may want to bring a plug splitter because there were not enough for the four of us.

New hostel with well-equipped kitchen
Free coffee and tea, kitchen with equipment, fridge, microwave and etc. Helpful staff, keep up to date the notices about coming events in towns around of interest to tourists. Lockers free to use, but they won't fit a backpack, even a day-pack one may not fit easily. Rooms, or rather cubicles have cupboards for that but no locks.

距離車站步行約10分鐘的路程，位於市役所旁邊，隔壁就有一件可以免稅買東西的7-11；入住時櫃台人員非常親切，退宿當天寄放了一段時間的行李也非常幫忙；一樓交誼廳有可以自己煮東西的地方，很適合去超市買個飛驒牛回來自己處理吃一下；這次居住日式和式房間獨立衛浴，周遭都是2-3層樓房，房間往外看的視野還行，以CP值來說滿高的；這次待在高山的時間比較少，沒有好好的享受高山市，下次來還會考慮在這裡住宿。
