Our favorite hotel experience in our world travels, because of its exceptional staff service and combination of beauty and comfort within the room! It is a traditional style Japanese decor with all the comforts expected of the modern western, including spaciousness, shower area with “onsen” soaking tub, washlet style toilet, bar area with stocked refrigerator and espresso machine. We also liked having a clothes washing area and a quiet library with snacks steps away down the hall. After a day in busy Tokyo, it was wonderful to retreat to a very quiet hotel with a comfortable attached restaurant. The nearest train station is only a short walk away, as are a few cafes and other eateries.
Exceptional in every way. Boutique feel, attentive staff invested in you as a guest, wonderful adjoining restaurant. I can’t say enough good things about this hotel. Wonderful location very close to JR and metro stations but quietly tucked away. Serene doesn’t begin to describe how relaxing this place is. A wonderful oasis!! I wish other 5 star hotels would take lessons from here!
We stayed at Hotel Ryumeikan Ochanomizu Honten for two nights at the end of our two week honeymoon in Japan and it was a wonderful, quiet oasis with a fantastic staff. The room was very spacious and had excellent amenities (espresso machine, two types of robes, great skincare products, etc).
This is a very small hotel and the staff went out of their way to make sure we had an excellent stay. They were able to get us a reservation at a great sushi bar at the last minute and even wrapped our breakable purchases in bubble wrap before we headed to the airport. As long as you are ok with not being in the center of the city, I highly recommend staying here. There is a subway right across the street but you will need to transfer to get to most other main neighborhoods (only about 15-20 minutes total, but something to be aware of)
We really enjoyed our stay and it was a fantastic way to end our trip!
I've stayed in a large number of hotels across Japan over the last 5 years and all have been excellent so I don't speak lightly when I say that Hotel Ryumeikan Ochanomizu Honten is the best I've ever stayed in.
The location was prefect, a nice quiet suburb but in easy walking distance to both Akihabara and Chiyoda, and also with access to Tokyo's excellent subway only a short walk from the hotel.
The room was wonderful, a feeling of luxury whilst blending an old traditional Japanese style and also extremely spacious.
The attached 1899 Ochanomizu Green Tea restaurant was also excellent, both the quality of the food and the quality of the service.
Highest praise must go to the wonderful hotel staff who helped us with several bookings and with directions. They were warm and inviting, attentive without being intrusive and a credit to both their hotel and country.
I sincerely hope I will have the opportunity to stay there again in the future and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to everyone.
