"Ideal location for getting the bus into Oxford. Room size, layout and furniture all good. Mattress too hard for me (not a great night's sleep) but fine for my husband. Ceiling cobwebs. Bathroom door needed cleaning. Sink cracked. Bathroom otherwise beautifully clean. Nice toiletries. Wi-fi very patchy. Staff were good and attentive."

"The room was very clean and comfortable except the air conditioning didn't seem to be working and the room was very hot. Staff were extremely helpful and kind. Especially towards our autistic children. They ensured we were seated in a quiet area of the restaurant and were very helpful giving us directions to the local shops."

Old Swan & Minster Mill Hotel

Old Swan & Minster Mill Hotel

8/10 Good
"The Hotel was beautiful and our room was clean and spacious. The TV was useless as there was no signal to pick up any terrestrial channels. We ate at the Swan and on the whole the food was good if a little over priced. However we were told that although we hadnโ€™t booked breakfast we could just turn up at breakfast time and would have no problems with being fitted in. We did this on the second day , the manageress of the restaurant said we would have to wait while she assessed the situation and see if there was a table free. There clearly was as I could count 8 out of 25 tables were free? I ordered poached eggs and avocado on sourdough toast and the eggs were overcooked. If I am paying ยฃ15 for poached eggs I would expect them to be perfect. This was reflected in the bill however. All the staff were friendly"

The Lygon Arms

The Lygon Arms

10/10 Excellent
"Wonderful stay at the Lygon Arms, free and convenient parking. Ideally located right in the heart of Broadway. Bookings for dinner are recommended for both restaurants, excellent cocktails are the bar (no cocktails available at the Tavern). Staff all very friendly and welcoming. Lots of walks right from the hotel. Delicious breakfast with lots of options. The spa has very nice changing rooms and showers. Would definitely return. The two small issues we had was our room was right on the High Street (accessed through the dining room) so there was a lot of street noise in the evening with the windows open during the summer as there is no air-con. As our room was only accessible by walking through the dining room, we were told we couldn't wear the provided dressing gowns/slippers when we had to walk through in the dining room when going to the pool/spa and for a massage, so had to bring a change of clothes. I understand the policy completely, but it would have been nice to have been told this ahead of time and given the option to change rooms. When staying again we will request room off the high street and with freer access to the amenities."
