We are a retired Australian couple and we have stayed at the hotel twice in the last 3 months. We went with a Luxury Escapes package for 8 nights and it was so good we returned for 4 nights on our way back from Europe. the hotel is good value for money and offers a great breakfast in the nightly rate.
This is a traditional Thai style resort offering beautiful rooms in an amazing setting. The beach and gardens are so stunning and the pool area just divine. The food served in the restaurant was always to a very high standard and the staff were very attentive.
"Fantastic hotel, top quality room and facilities"
We arrived late to a very courteous and efficient check in at the Apsara; opened the door to a fantastic sea front room, which was all the more appreciated when we opened the curtains in the morning to find the beach right under our nose. Absolutely wonderful stay, in a really nice part of Thailand which is recovering so well after the devastation of 2004.
This is not a place for the night Owls and Ravers, in fact the only downside was the fact that the evenings could be just a bit too sedate; but that is probably due to being there at the start of the season. If you want bouncing bars and the rest then stay closer in to Khao Lak town. Everywhere we went along the very very long beach, we were greeted by friendly and efficient staff from the smallest one person pop up, to the more established beach bar/restaurants. Be sure to try a meal at the little restaurant at the very end of the beach road (about 1km away from the Apsara, easy walking) it is worth the effort to go on (early) past the few usual stops clustered around the junction.

Though the hotel was very far from anything, but it was a great location for the people who want to relax and enjoy the seneary. Beautiful beach with coconut trees all over the pool, and the jungle'ish side of the hotel was a nice touch. The breakfast and the diner were more than satisfying.
Very helpful staff, with limited anglish abilities. Large rooms with a balcony with a jungle'ish view and swamps. the hotel looks old, but very satisfying for the people on a budget.

Upon our arrival, the lady that checked us in and escorted us to the room provided the most thorough and professional service we have ever experienced. V good breakfast to start the day off and then long 2 hour walk along a deserted and beautiful beach. Nice swimming area directly in front of the hotel and the swimming pool is one of the nicest. If you appreciate a beautiful and rustic beach, and like pool and relaxation, this is the place. Only negative was that the Siam restaurant is very overpriced and the quality simply does not justify. There are so many great restaurants with in minutes of the resort that prepare delicious food for just a few dollars. All in, we had a great stay and can easily recommend this resort for serious R&R. Thank you
