“good value”
hotel easily accessed from airport.spot on advice about 49 bus & getting off at Lycee to connect with tram or if happy to carry bags for 5 mins walk round corner from hotel. Bus stop is opposite Salon De The ( yellow sign)which will serve you excellent bread/ pastries for cheaper breakfast than hotel & in authentic atmosphere
“Best hotel in Bordeaux”
It is very comfortble hotel. And, they are very kindly for visitors.
“Close to public transportation”
There is a friendly person at the front desk who speaks good English. She directs us to the elevator. The lights are of the type that turn off after a while, so you are going down dark corridors until you realize that you are supposed to turn them on. There is a serviceable elevator and the room is large but stark, with empty white walls, a bed, a straight-backed chair, and two night tables but nothing else. There is a refrigerator and a small stovetop with pans, plates, utensils, soap and a sponge for clean-up. We did not need this as we were there only one night, but it is worth noting. There were precisely two towels in the bathroom (I did not try asking for more). Everything is clean and acceptable however. I ask at the front desk if there is a navette to the airport, and I am told there is not. The common transportation for all hotels is said to be slow and unreliable. A taxi ride will cost around 30 Euros. The desk clerk does not know of a public transportation connection to the airport. To get to the airport with public transportation we take the A metro from the Sainte Augustine stop to the Lycées Merignac stop. There we transfer to the 49 bus, which gets us to the airport. The whole trip takes 50 minutes, waits included.
“Value for money”
Hotel staff were very obliging. As the hotel is not in centre the bar could have been better stocked. Food in Restuarant started very well but deteriated as the days went on.
“Basic hotel, but good location”
The location is good. Although it is not in the city center there is a good and convenient tram service. The stop is close to the hotel. Hotel is also easy to find from the ring road because the signage is very good. There is a good car park. Hotel rooms are clean, but would need an update to be more comfortable and enjoyable. You miss the wellcoming feeling. Pictures on the wall and nicer curtains would do a lot. The corridors are the same. There is a feel of 1980s in the rooms and in the corridors although everything in in good shape. There is also a lobby bar, but it is not cosy. You can get a beer, but otherwise selection is very limited. Basic hotel in a good location.
“Adequate accomodations”
We stayed two nights at the Alton Hotel because of a train strike and found the accomodations to be adequate. The hotel is situated a fair distance from city center and from the train station but was very accessible by public transportation, we took a taxi from the train station and the fare was about 20 Euros. I would probably not stay at these accomodations again but considering that it is a 2 star hotel is probably correctly rated.
“Not Impressed”
Family "Suite" was clean but very basic. Beds and Bathroom. Most of staff, except for one individual, was not interested in customer service. Not worth the price we paid.
“Absolutely dreadful hotel”
We arrived at this hotel and the room we were given was dirty and threadbare The corridors were long and unlit which was intimidating when using. We complained and were offered another room which was at the rear of the building but was equally as bad. The central landscaped area has not been looked after and looked derelict. This is well below Expedia standards and should be removed from their books. The nearest comparison I can make for this hotel is ''Bates Hotel '' from the Hitchcock classic Physco

Area:
Bordeaux, France: Once known as La Belle Au Bois Dormant (Sleeping Beauty), Bordeauxs graceful neo-classical buildings have been restored, the leafy boulevards pedestrianised and the city of vintage wine is now wide awake. Picturesquely set on the banks of the River Garonne, this lively university city has pretty parks and squares, impressive museums, buzzing cafés and chic shops, not to mention a plethora of gourmet restaurants to accompany the fine wines.
