“Nice hotel”
Would definitely recommend this hotel and would go back if we ever visit Boston again. Room was on the small side but the bed was very comfortable. Conveniently located for all the sight seeing we wanted to do. Would have been nice to have tea/coffee making facilities in the room but other than that no complaints. Reasonably priced too.
“Can't wait to go back!!”
Hotel 140 is located within walking distance to Copley shopping area, two T stations and Newbury St. The hotel was very clean and comfortable and the staff was helpful and extremely friendly. The price and location were amazing. Next time I travel to Boston, this will be where I stay!
“Great hotel, close to everything”
We were so pleased with Hotel 140. We could walk to most of the popular historic sites as well as shopping. Some of the reviews stated concern about the size of the room, bed and bathroom. My husband is 6'3 and fit just fine. I have already recommended this hotel to three people and we plan to stay there again.
“Hotel 140 Back Bay Area Boston”
Very easy to get to using the Metro Transit light rail system - the Back Bay station is two blocks from Hotel 140. My room was just the right size for one person, and at an excellent price given the location in Boston. I was within blocks of other hotels, stores, restaurants and theaters. The room consisted of a small bedroom and bathroom with shower, and while both were not spacious, they did not feel cramped. The bed was very comfortable and the hotel quiet, so I had a sound night's sleep. Room included a TV with cable, desk and chair, free wireless, and the hotel is very Eco-friendly. Two computers are available in the lobby area for printing boarding passes and access to the internet. The hotel staff were very helpful when I asked for directions.
“Great Bang for you Buck!”
So I booked this hotel room the night before, the rates were affordable. The front desk staff are very friendly and helpful and easy to converse with. The maintenance staff are helpful too. We were checked in at 11 when we arrived! We had luggage we wanted to check in at the front desk and explore Boston until check in time at 3pm but they let us check in early anyway! The room is big enough, I wouldn't say tiny like in the reviews I read before booking this place, that we (two of us) could easily move around with all our 4 huge suitcases lying on the ground. Overall very clean place to stay, bathroom and shower were clean. The front desk let us use their refrigerator. The biggest perk is location! It is within walking distance to the T (subway), the prudential center, Copley square, Boston public Library, John Hancock building, tons of shopping everywhere, great restaurants, a CVS store. We walked everywhere! Our stay here was great and would stay here again when I visit Boston in the future.
“Clean, Contemporary and Cozy”
Simple but chic decor throughout this small, cheerful hotel located in an excellent neighborhood. Friendly and professional service. Walking distance to the "T," Boston's subway. Try dinner at 23 Grill and Bar just a couple of blocks away.
“would stay again if traveling alone”
I did not realize that this hotel is associated with the YWCA, which is a plus for a return stay if traveling by myself. The hotel offers handmade soaps and soap dishes in the unit and for sale in the lobby through a local business, which I believe is from a local not-for-profit. The location is excellent. It is literally right of off the Back Bay stop on the Orange line and a short walking distance from the Copley stop on the Green line. It is also a short walk to Copley Square and Boston Commons. The rooms are small due to the YWCA building that has been rehabbed for the hotel, but my room was very comfortable, clean, and secure. The continental breakfast, located in the Terra Cotta Cafe, consists of one hot beverage, one cold breakfast, and either a pastry from Au Bain Pain or bagel, etc. So it is not what you would necessarily think of in regards to a traditional hotel breakfast, but the selections of beverages and other food items is still good. I hope that this review is useful. Again, I would highly recommend this room if traveling alone. Be aware that the room does have a double bed. I am not aware of what the double rooms look like in terms of size...
“Recommended”
The location boasts an easy walk to the MBTA, the South End, and Copley Square and Back Bay; the building has a cool past; the rooms are clean and comfortable; and the rates are super. I'd say it's a keeper!
“Cozy stay for one”
This is a great place for one person to stay. The rooms are small, but if you only care about a comfortable bed and TV, they are just fine - and close to a T stop and Copley Square. The shower in the bathroom was a bit quirky. You couldn't turn on the water without it shooting out the stall door onto the floor. A nuisance, but not a deal breaker. I'll definitely come back.
“Hard to fault”
Room was quiet, clean and spacious. Hotel is very handy (a couple of blocks) to the Copley train station from where you can get pretty much anywhere on the T line. The complimentary breakfast is fairly specific and limited so if that's a big hotel drawcard you might be disappointed, but given the extremely competitive price (by Boston hotel standards at least) and convenient location it's hard to fault Hotel 140. Would definitely stay here again.
