“I'd stay there again on my next chicago visit”
The staff were wonderful. They make you feel that you are welcome in the hotel. It's five minutes from McCormick Convention Plaza. Grant Park is just across it. It is in a quieter portion of Michigan, yet still in a safe neighborhood. It is neither too north nor too south in Michigan ave. You want to get a cab? cross the small street to Chicago Hilton and get a cab from the line in front. The perfect hotel for the business traveler.
“Little gem in downtown Chicago”
Excellent location. Great price. We come here often!
“Our stay at the Chicago Essex Inn”
We enjoyed out stay at your hotel. Staff was friendly, courteous & helpful. There was a rowdy group of girls making a lot of noise at night when we were ready to turn in for the night, but that was not really your fault. We should probably have called the front desk, but didn't.
“Excellent”
We will gladly return next time in Chicago. Good service, clean and well located.
“Great value for the price!”
Great value for the price and wonderful Michigan Ave./Grant Park location. Loved the pool, sauna, in room fridge and free shuttle to attractions. We were there as a family and happy...will return!
“Friendly Staff”
It was my parent's anniversary and I wanted to surprise them by upgrading their room to one with a great view of the park and the lake. I mentioned it at the front desk- fully prepared to pay for an upgrade- and the kind gentleman upgraded their room for no charge. My parents were over the moon with their view and larger room. The beds are very comfortable, and although small, the rooms are perfect for a one or two night stay.
“Great price - fantastic pool - perfect for a family sightseeing stay!!”
The hotel staff was extremely accommodating, eager to please, knowledgeable, and very friendly! Our room was wonderfully attended to - nicely neat, comfortable, & clean. A definite highlight for our family was the hotel's swimming pool. The location is fantastic for sight-seeing. It is close to the Shedd Aquarium, the Planetarium, the Field Museum, The Art Institute, Millennium Park, & Navy Pier. Oh, and did I mention it offers free shuttles? Fantastic hotel -- our family will be back!
“Great Hotel and Great Blues”
Easy to find the hotel and the staff was some of the best.Had a great time in Chicago and will come back.
“Solid Business Class Plus Hotel”
Delightful friendly staff. Full service greeting plus. Room was clean, nice amenities-- but a bit smaller than common in newer hotels. Nice hidden refrigerator in the room. Maid service excellent. Hotel toiletries, good quality. Hotel pool -- luxury class, a special treasure. Work out room well above average. I highly recommend the hotel for business travellers, and couples on romantic getaways.
“Solid Affordable Option”
I have stayed at the Essex in a couple of times now, and find it a very affordable option when I visit Chicago. The main attractions I typically want to do/see are the Art Institute and shopping on Michigan Ave - I would rather spend money on shopping than a fancy hotel room. There is a shuttle to the shopping area and it's easy to catch a cab if needed. The front desk and bell staff are very polite.
