“I love this hotel”
I'm originally from Plymouth and whenever I go 'home' to visit friends/family, the kids and I always stay at the Novotel. It child friendly and the heated outdoor pool is great for such a reasonably priced hotel.
“Not in the centre of the City this hotel has ample free parking and close proximity to major roads.”
This hotel offers very good value for money. There is an excellent buffet breakfast with good choice. The rooms have been redecorated and they were clean and comfortable. Due to the location near the A38 road there is some traffic noise when windows are open. However all in all this is a good hotel as long as you do not want to be right in the City Centre.
“Free car park”
A bit out of the way for the town centre but the availability of parking space made a good trade off.
“Good value, convenient”
This former Novotel was recently acquired by Legacy. It does need a bit of modernisation, but is comfortable enough. Room was very dusty, possibly not used for a while and had not been inspected. Reception reacted promptly and courteously when we complained. Breakfast we pretty good, even though the hotel was very busy. Parking and access were fine, bar area quite pleasant, swimming pool not open til May, which was a pity, as it was a very warm weekend. Overally perfectly happy and would use again, but Legacy need to update it.
“Needs a refit”
If it wasn't for the offer I wouldn't have considered it. The car park is in need of a good clean up, lines repainted and maybe remove the weeds? The entrance / lobby is very nice despite the piece of rotten wood they have as an entrance ramp. I was checked in and shown to my room by another passing member of hotel staff who pointed out the lighting and said that the doors don't close when pushed to, you have to force them shut! The room was tired, in desperate need of a refit. The carpets were grubby and needed a deep clean or better yet replacing. The bathroom was ok but again it was tired and needed freshening up.
“Very underwhelming”
We knew we weren't getting a 5 star with this hotel, but it was more run down than we expected. The restaurant was understaffed and we had to walk to a nearby restaurant for dinner as a result (which was a blessing in disguise) and the service in the restaurant the next morning was miserable.
“Twin Beds!”
Having booked a Twin Room in May via Expedia for use in August we were amazed to find that this hotel viewed a twin room as a double bed plus a put u up childs bed (this is what the receptionist told us). A twin room (which we happily enjoy around the world) is two adult size fully sprung beds. While we are grumbling lets add hopeless lighting in the bedroom - impossible to read a book - no easy chair to sit in; old fashioned TV plus not able to turn on/off with remote; gap of 10 inches between wall and side of double bed; no bathroom ventilation .... need we go on. Not a hotel group we would ever use again.
