“Grat location and value for money”
The location was grat the receptionist was very friendly and gave great advice about places to eat.
“Very happy with our stay!”
We were visiting Plymouth to watch a show at the Pavilions and The Astor was a 5-10 minute walk away. Reception was friendly and the room was clean and very comfortable. The beautiful promenade was a handful of meters away. Very happy and would recommend it to anyone.
“I would stay there again!”
Everyone was so friendly and helpful!
“On the Hoe”
It is obvious that the owner works hard to provide the best service in this hotel. Though the Hotel is old and maybe a little tired, this is expected of one of Plymouths historic buildings. The location is excellent, short walk into town, or a pleasant stroll along the Hoe to the barbican. Would happily stay here again, last time was 27 years ago on our wedding night.
“very small room”
overall we were happy with everything apart from the room, surely the most important factor of a hotel. To get from one side of room to other you had to do a sideways shuffle. We were informed on departure room(321) was to be converted to a single room. It did have everything you could want apart from space. The rest of the hotel we thought was very bright and clean and a special mention has to go to the staff who were excellant. We only stopped 2 nights but I think if it had been longer I would have looked at alternatives. As it is I would not return unless a bigger room was guarenteed.
“not bad at all”
Great location, short walk to the hoe.Amazing view.good clean hotel, friendly helpfull .staff.
“Great Location”
To be able to walk out of the front door of the Hotel and take a short walk to one of the world's great under-rated views (Plymouth Sound) was a real treat. Staff were excellent breakfast very good and the location good for City Centre a short walk away.
“All Good”
The hotel was lovely including the staff. we did appear to have the hottest room ever, we had to sleep with the windows wide open and it was freezing outside. But we're still gona go back and then we'll find out! its very good value for money in a lovely quiet area with some hidden restaurants just down the road!
“What can I say?”
I'm in two minds about this hotel. The website looks very professional and you would think that you were destined to stay in luxury. A price reduction certainly helps. However, don't be fooled by this one. You arrive to a rather crummy run down Victorian building, fairly close to the sea front. The location is ideal. I felt quite ill when we entered the building and the reception area was extremely dated. There was a slight odour of mould/ old smell throughout and I was tempted to run out. The decor reminded me of something out of Fawlty Towers or worse and was actually quite scary. The staff are excellent and mainly foreign workers and extremely helpful. We were left to find the rooms and I almost fell over sideways on seeing them- urgh- yes, that is the only way to describe the tiny, cramped, dated horror before us. Without complaining and within 5 minutes, the hotel manager had suddenly appeared and relocated us to some very nice rooms (obviously only part of the hotel had been renovated), but I did have to pay more for this honour. Saying all this, the place does grow on you and the staff are extremely attentive, breakfast is nice and plenty of choice, the staff go out of there way to offer lifts and help with luggage and the hotel was practically empty, so very quiet with a comfortable sleep in a very clean and well maintained room. I don't think we would stay there again and you can find a host of excellent B&B's in the area, but certainly try it once.
“Tired old hotel”
In need of an update! Older style hotel, thin walls, creaky floors, poor finish, cold!
