“Good but let down by a few things that could be easily fixed”
The hotel is in a great location overlooking the bay and just a 20 minute brisk walk into the town. Aghious itself is a lovely place with some great boutique style shops and restaurants/cafes. The area around the lake is particularly lovely. In the hotel most of the staff were fantastic, particularly the guys and girls at the Mermaid Bar who were really friendly and fun. Disappointed with the set up of our room - one large room sleeping us and our 14 year old son - and little privacy. On the first night the air conditioning couldn't cope and the room didn't cool down. Our safe packed up half way through the holiday. In addition we waited nearly an hour one evening trying to gain access to our room at midnight. Apparently the battery in the door had packed up and it took this long to fix it. No apology from management for this. There appeared to be a lot of management in the hotel doing very little other than watching what other staff were doing. The area around the beach is fantastic but this was slightly spoilt by the petty daily charge for sunbeds - v irritating. We've never paid for sunbeds on a hotel beach before and spent the previous week on a different part of the island where all the sunbeds were free in front of all of the cafes and tavernas provided you bought a drink/snack there. Overall it is a great place to stay and most of the staff are fantastic. The animation team were also really good. Just a few things for the hotel management to improve.
