“Disappointed”

We spent a night at The Old Bell Hotel in Malmesbury. We arrived very early in the morning and our room was not ready but the receptionist was very welcoming and helpful. Our disappointment started late in the evening when we entered our room after a hards day sightseeing to find that it was not as described (Hotel website) and completely different to what we expected. When we went into the toilet we found it very DIRTY!!! (Please see the uploaded images). The toilet seat hinges were green, the extractor fan was full of a thick layer of dust, the towel rail thermostat looked broken and was dirty, as was the lighting cord. My bath towel looked like it had been used 1000 times and was badly ripped... The hair dryer was also missing. The room was also very noisy during the night and in particular early in the morning, when all you could hear were both severe/consent plumbing noises (water banging/humming) and people walking through the squeaky corridor and banging the fire door. I understand it is an old building but the plumbing for example should be up to decent standard. The only saving grace was when we went down for breakfast. what was a pleasant surprise. The freshly cooked scramble eggs with salmon was delicious! There was a large range of cereals and pastries to choose from and the service was superb. Sadly on the whole we were very disappointed and glad we only needed to stay the one night...!!!!
