“Beautiful hotel”
I have been fortuante enough to stay in some of the nicest hotels in the world and would definetly say this hotel stands equal amongst them. It`s staff should be commended for their friendliness and are amongst the warmest and most helpful I`ve encountered. I chose the hotel because I was looking for something differant, I was`nt disappointed. The staff I spoke to were knowledgeable and enthusiastic being happy to show us around the grounds and answer our questions. We had a meal in the hotels restaurant, the staff were friendly and attentive. The food being of the highest quality. We stayed in a suite. It was was impeccably presented. Oxford is a beautiful city let down by idiotic town planners who deliberatley set out to confuse and discourage you from using your car. The city seems to have more cyclists than Beijing and whilst they may appear attractive in a travel guide, in reality their demented and blatent disregard for the highway code is not only irritating ,its downright dangerous. The hotel is only a five minute walk from the railway station and recommend using the train as your sensible means of getting to the city.
“An Oxford Experience”
This hotel is for those that want to experience a unique stay in a historic setting. Fantastic location in the heart of Oxford, with a short walk (3-4 minutes) to/from the bus station, or a 5 minute ride from the train station. Great food, great service and great memories.
“Different”
Quality hotel in excellent location. Different and quirky! Bed is far too hard and may injure you. Get a topper... Highly recommended!
“The Nicest Night You'll Ever Spend in Prison”
This hotel is very, very cool. It is converted from an old prison, which in turn had been converted from an old castle. All told, parts of the building date back as far as William the Conqueror. It's a wonderful place to stay, the staff is attentive, a shopping mall is directly across the street, and the restaurant offers a fantastic English Breakfast (as well as the more standard Continental Breakfast, which is buffet-style).
“Expensive, but a great play to stay.”
Highly recommended. Restful place.
“Never had so much fun being locked up”
Such a great location and such a lovely building, we stayed in one of the delux rooms and it was like staying in penthouse, i would recommend the place for any couple who want a truly special weekend away
“A marvellous experience”
The Malmaison Oxford Prison Hotel is simply the best I have ever stayed in. The conversion has been done with exquisite attention to detail, and the room we had in the prison itself was incredibly comfortable. The food in the restaurant was excellent, with friendly and knowledgable staff. The surrounding complex of the castle is like a small sophisticated town. I would wholeheartedly recommend a stay.
“Loved it!”
We were led to believe (through the website that we booked with) that all rooms have the free standing baths. This is not the case, the standard rooms do not have them, if you are going to stay there ensure you choose a room with the bath as its gorgeous, the bathroom also had heated floor tiles and the shower is massive. The hotel staff were really helpful and friendly, they upgraded our room due to the misunderstanding which was not their fault and we had a fabulous stay. However, be warned that there is no free parking and you have to book it with the hotel before you get there and it costs £20 for an overnight stay. I would definitely recommend to stay here though.
“Decent hip hotel”
The hotel is really quite satisfactory in all respects. However (1) some rooms can be small, as they were mostly former prison cells. Location very convenient. TV a bit small, and no satellite or international channels to choose from.
