“Nothing special”
Nicwe hotel, decent area. Clean
“met our needs”
basic...ice machine broken...hint of cigarett smoking smell
“hanging round”
It was clean, quiet and the staff were nice and responded to our concerns quickly. That said, this place is in serious need of maintainence. Our first room had an electrical short (scary), so we we moved to another room, with a leaky toilet (which I took apart and fixed myself rather than moving again). Pictures were missing from walls in both rooms, and the edges of wallpaper, carpet, etc were ragged. Staff mainly seemed to be hanging out, in the bar or dining room watching TV or smoking in the parking lot, waiting for soemthing to do. All this indicates that management is not very good. When a building is in serious need of attention and you have staff just hanging around waiting eagerly to please, you have an oversight issue.
“disappointing.”
Mostly it was run down. The breakfast was ok, but not great. It was the same thing everyday and overcooked. I would not stay there again. However, the breakfast gal was really nice.
“Do not waste your time”
Tub was dirty, holes in the ceiling, wait staff unkempt. I checked out after one night --would never stay here again.
“Not a 3-star hotel”
I made reservations through Expedia's "Unpublished Rates" system. I had done that once before, getting more than what I expected for a great price, but not this time. The lobby of the Clarion is lovely (beautiful paneling---think Embassy Suites) but walking past it to the rooms, you enter the worn-carpet zone. Our room, right off the parking lot, had sheer curtains but not drapes that closed (kind of disturbing). The bed had no mattress pad. The towels weren't clean, and the tub faucet dripped. Internet was out too, although that was blamed on Hurricane Irene. In short: it's not the three-star hotel advertised by Expedia. A guess: there's not enough money for maintenance. Perhaps if the rates went down (along with the rating), the hotel would fill more easily.
“Avoid breakfast”
I have stayed there 3 times already, because I could not find a room in the area I wanted to be. I am not going back, anyway. Breakfast was always lousy. The change to Clarion management has not changed that...
