“Expremely pleased”
Our stay was wonderful, the staff were friendly and well mannered. The hotel is in the historic district of Ponce so we were able to do walking tours everywhere, I would recommend this hotel to any travelers!
“Charming Hotel, 1915”
If travelers like old, original hotels, this is the one for you. But ask for the old wing of the hotel or the staff will put you in the new wings. Cathy and señor Rodríguez went out of their way to assist me with all my questions. Its general manager, Mr. Albors, went out of his way to get a room in the original wing for me when he found out I prefer old rooms, especially because Carlos Gardel stayed at this hotel in April 1935. Will definitely go back (even if smoking is not allowed). The hotel is close to everything in the beautiful city of Ponce and its friendly people.
“Will definetly go back. The location and price are perfect!”
This hotel is located in the downtown of Ponce. It is walking distance from good restaurants and nightlife spots. Is is right in front of the Plaza of Ponce. The hotel is well maintained for the time it has been there. Rooms are comfortable and clean. Breakfast terrace has a beautiful view of the city. The breakfast is good too. Centric and nice. Definetly would stay there again.
“Nice Budget Hotel, Great Location”
The Melia Hotel in Ponce is a very good value as long as you do not expect luxury. Its location near the central Plaza is perfect for seeing the main sights and enjoying the lovely architecture. There are many restaurants nearby and we had an authentic and delicious Puerto Rican dinner at Cafe Tomas, highly recommended by the hotel staff. We were surprised to learn that the well-known gourmet restaurant "Mark's at the Melia" no longer existed! The front desk staff (particularly Kathy) were very pleasant, informative, and helpful, and the parking was a mere $3 per night. The AC unit was noisy but our room (and bath) was clean and comfortable, although a bit worn and small (with a King bed). The outside walkways and rooftop terrace were nicely decorated with potted plants. A very limited breakfast (bagels, some sweets) is served on the rooftop (fruit would be a good addition), but it was convenient for a quick breakfast. There is a computer in the rather elegant old-world lobby which can be used for free. There is also a pretty outside swimming pool (which we did not use). All in all, we enjoyed our two night visit and would definitely return.
“Its a perfect little hotel, clean and confortable”
The hotel is cousy and very clean. The view of the plza mayor and the church was so beatiful. Im realy very satisfied with the front desk treatment.
“best kept romantic secret in Ponce, PR”
The location, staff and nightlife at Ponce was extraordinary. Also very convenient to the airport.
“Elegance and charm in down town Ponce”
Pros: Smooth and organized check-in. Friendly and professional staffs. Perfect location to explore down town Ponce. Guarded 24hr parking that is cheap (about $3 per day plus tips). Clean swimming pool open until 10pm or so. Clean room with WiFi. Scenic roof-top with well taken care of plants. Old charm with nostalgia. Cons: Air conditioning unit was a bit noisy. No AC in a bathroom. It gets hot and humid when you take shower. Only one bath towel, wash cloth, and matt in a bathroom. Bathroom was not cleaned properly. I saw some hair in a tub and on a floor. It seems that there are not a lot of places to eat around the hotel.
“Charming and friendly hotel”
Well kept and preserved 130+ years old hystorical hotel. Not too fancy but charming. Staff very friendly and helpful, and overall the hotel is way over other fancy, expensive and modern hotels that overcharge you. I will recommend...
“Old style hotel in a great location”
The hotel is well located right off of the main plaza. Most tourist attractions were within walking distance. Since traffic is a concern, there should, however, be a sign in front of the hotel explaining where the hotel's parking lot is located. The rooms vary in size. We had a small but very comfortable and clean room off of the back, in the newer addition. Breakfast was very pleasant on their rooftop. There is free internet access in the business center. The front desk was helpful.
“Love this hotel!”
Wow! Nicest hotel I've stayed at and very reasonable. Loved the historical feel of the building and the view from our balcony. Clean and very comfortable. Had a great dinner at the Ramada across the square. Breakfast was very adequate, eating on the roof was awesome. Very reasonable parking ($3) right next door.
