“Better than we even expected!”
Inca Real was the least expensive hotel I could find in San Jose. Since we were only staying one night on the way into Costa Rica and one night on the way out, we decided that we didn't need anything special, so cheap would do. When we arrived, we were very pleasantly surprised-- the hotel was very clean, had 2 computers for guest use, gave us wakeup calls and called our taxis for us for the airport. The staff spoke very decent english, and were helpful in giving us ideas for dinner and entertainment. Our room had two beds instead of the expected one. My only complaint was the firmness of the mattress, but I know some folks are fond of firm beds. The bathrooms were nice-- very good water pressure and pleasently hot water. After a long day of travel it was a nice place to rest.
“Good Value”
Good value and easy access to the centre, staff helpful and friendly.Hotel room furnishings slighty tierd, pillows needed replacing.
“good hotel”
location very good close to center
“Happy to Return”
It was a pleasant surprise to see that the inside of the hotel was a vast improvement on the external appearance. A nicely decorated foyer and guest lounge area. Rooms are pleasant but smallish. Shower was hot and with a good spray, which is not common in Central Am. It was of concern that the room had no aircon, but it didn't seem to matter. The location is good with a bridk 10 min walk to Plaza de la Cultura. The surroundings are not particularly inviting but we didn't worry about walking around at night. Most actvity is near the plaza, but there are some cool restaurants nearby, including a particularly lively American-owned pub We would be happy to stay in the hotel again if we ever do a followup to an amazing 6 week Central American experience
“I would stay there again”
I'm a single guy that stayed in Inca Real for a night. The hotel was in the cut and a few cab drivers didn't either know it or where it was. Eventually, it was found. Service at the hotel was good, room was fine and comfortable for me. All-in-all a positive experience. However, maybe not the best place to stay for a long period of time if you're on that romantic get-a-way with your significant other.
“Not in the best area”
The hotel really is not in the best area of San Jose, right on the outskirts of the city. There was really nothing around it at all. The main square was about a 10 minute walk which was fine during the day, but I would not recommend doing so at night. The hotel staff was not very helpful and forgot to do wakeup calls, which you needed since none of the clocks had batteries in them, and they didnt have any at the desk. The room itself was not bad, just the basics. Shower was the best part, and I hope you dont want ice because there is none, even though there is a bucket. I'd probably never stay here again and I wouldnt tell anyone else to, but it was a place to stay at the end of a long day.
“Very well located, but hear loud voices from guests and staff from lobby inside the room.”
Very well located downtown San Jose, but not Holiday Inn standards.. I could hear all the talking from the small lobby right in my room, as most rooms give on the lobby around an atrium. I was on the lobby floor which makes it worst I guess.Dont expect to sleep in late you will be waken up by voices early morning. I would have been more comfy at the holiday inn next block.
“Great Hotel, but not the same kind of service”
Check in, my initial impression, was very disappointing. I'm glad the rest of the experience wasn't equal. The room & hotel are very nice... especially for the price, and the friendly lady at breakfast was a delight, the location was exactly where I needed to be for my medical appointment. I will stay here once again in the near future, reguardless.
“Clean with horrible service”
Nice looking hotel is a decent location but with horrible service. I asked for a taxi ride to the airport and they want $23. My guide book says its $15 tops so I told them to book a taxi for me using an official taxi company and they refuse to call. I asked for a restaurant recomendation and they told me to go to the hotel restaurant. I than ask for a local map cause I know that will have restaurants on it and all the sudden they are out of maps (I got a map the previous day when I asked during check in). Room was clean at check in but maid service is horrible (did not even take out garbage). Front desk is more interested in chatting on the phone and being on internet then in helping you. Will not stay again.
“very unimpressed”
This hotel had its own cab sitting there. The cab ripped us off both times we took it. The restaurant and bar were closed and the rooms were very uncomfortable. We stayed at over 6 hotels on this trip. Hotel Inca Real was the worst (and most expensive) by far.
