“Loved it!”
I had a great time!! Wish I could have stayed even longer. I would definitely stay there again.
“Would definitely stay at this hotel again”
Spent a weekend at the hotel. The room was clean. Didn't like the twin beds because they were in fixed positions and could not be brought together. The continental breakfast met our needs. We were gone during the day and the meal in the evening was excellent. Our room overlooked the ocean. The hotel is in a quiet location and if you wanted to travel around the island you would need a car or you could get taxi service which would be more expensive I think. I have stayed at different hotels in Barbados and this was excellent for the price. If you are looking for peace and tranquility, The New Edgewater is definitely the place to be. The beach on this side of the island and around the hotel is not ideal for swimming! I would definitely visit this hotel again!
“The rougher part of the Island - The Best”
We were looking for the real Barbados, not the usual "tourist trap" and we found it. The view from this hotel is astounding: it is located on a reef overlooking the Atlantic Ocean (this side is recommended for surfers because of the waves) and the only sounds at night are the crickets and the waves: relaxing and REAL. This is not a hotel for late night partygoers: this is a hotel for people any age who love to enjoy good food, excellent service, surfing or relaxing at the beautiful pool directly looking at the ocean, sunbathing, walking around, enjoying the nearby places and people. We saw the whole island thanks to a Moped rented through the hotel, whose staff goes beyong its duties to make this a memorable experience. It was my partner's byrthday and I surprised him with a candlelight dinner in our room: Erika, the Hotel manager and her wonderful staff provided for everything, including fresh lobster as I wished to have and a full 4 course meal that really surprised my love! We miss this place and the wonderful smiling staff! Note on food: I am a very picky Italian and the best food we have eaten was actually at our hotel! We went to many places but it remained the best and most reasonably priced. Try a pineapple daiquiri: they literally sliced a full pineapple for two! Delicious.
“Can't wait to return !”
The hotel was exactly what I expected from reading the reviews. The view was incredible ! My boyfriend is a surfer and we couldn't have been at a better spot. The staff was pleasant and wanted to meet your needs. The hotel was quiet and that was just what we were looking for. The beach is not crowded at all. We are looking to return next year !
“We'll be back....”
This hotel was older but had a lot of character. It may not appeal to some who are looking for more modern accommodations. It was very clean and comfortable. The staff here was very welcoming and friendly. We had a wonderful experience.
“Feels like a dream now I am home”
Staff at this hotel especially Erica on reception were so friendly and polite. I was treated with great courtesy throughout my stay. The room was huge with a massive king sized bed. Due to power cuts there was no airconditioning and some lights did not work. The room therefore was extremely hot and as a ground floor one I did not feel inclined to leave the window open. The continental breakfast was super and I found kept me going until the evening. Evening meals were tasty and very substantial. A main course and two beers was very reasonable. The pool was lovely, liked the crabs lurking in the bottom. Cool water that was cleaned everyday and plenty of seats and loungers. As a fair skinned Londoner I felt a larger canopied area could be helpful. Surroundings are breathtaking, surfers must be in heaven here with the wonderful waves. As said by others the village is easy to walk to. Buses to Bridgetown run hourly and are a cheap way to get around. Do take a torch with you if going out in the evening, there is little lighting and the footpath up to the hotel is rough in places. This is a hotel billed as for over 18 years of age so apart from the Buffets when visitors come in is child free.
“East coast jewel!”
We were there 8days.Hotel's location is excelent, amazing beaches , great food , friendly people . We can't wait to go back.
“Just what I needed”
My stay in Barbados was perfect. I need to travel on a modest budget, and the New Edgewater single-handedly allowed me to visit the island. Between a steal of a rate promotion on Expedia and a startling but welcomed upgrade upon check-in, I couldn't ask for more. I have two "must haves" when I travel to the Caribbean: A/C that stays cool in my room, bugs that stay out. New Edgewater had a solid air conditioner that I could control by remote, and the only pest in my room was me. While it's true that it appears as if the property is undergoing renovations and can look better when it's finished, I got way more than I paid for. The cleaning lady was friendly to me, and the hostesses at breakfast were great to talk to as well. Erica was a ray of sunshine at the front desk: beautiful, friendly, and so helpful. I did not go in the pool, but it looks like a treat. I can't say enough about the view, so I'll just say this: for the entire time I was there, I was exactly where I wanted to be.
“great hotel great service wonderful people”
I had an awsome experience an the new edgewater. The hotel is about one quarter mile from soup bowls world famous surf break and it can be seen from the hotel deck. The roads from there to st lawrence gap are easy to navigate
“A Real Retreat and a Treat”
This hotel was perfect for us because it is not in a busy tourist location, it is small, the service is outstanding and the views are spectacular. If you are friendly, the staff will treat you like family. Continental breakfast is provided with the room and it includes a variety of fruits, juices, coffee, cereal, toast, and various baked items. A cooked breakfast can be purchased though we only had the continental breakfast. We had supper there for 13 of the 14 nights and though the menu each night is limited the food is very good, better than most hotels in North America and on each night there is a different menu. The hotel is an older tropical hotel with tiled floors and stairs though there is no elevator. The hotel is charming though it is not right up to date but is more than adequate for a very comfortable stay. Having a car helps if you want to travel around a lot like we did but it is not essential because the bus system is inexpensive and efficient and distances are quite short while driving can be challenging because the road signs are inadequate. There is only a security card on duty after 9 pm so it would be wise to phone ahead if you will be arriving later than 9. We are really looking forward to going back.
