"We had a great stay here and treated our Sri Lankan family. The chef and kitchen and service was phenomenal and the rooms were great. Lot of room. Ensure to enter the number of people you plan to have with you while booking, otherwise you might get surprising surcharges. I checked online and could have gotten the same rate I paid if I entered the right amount of people. "There are 3 hotels in the Somerset group. This is away from the beach. Its up a very steep narrow concrete road. Its dark in the night and only 1 vehicle can go up or down this dark narrow road. The hotel staff are really nice. The rooms are a bit dated. The breakfast buffet was a joke as compared to hotels we have stayed in colombo. There was no buffet. Just a plate of fruit and eggs if you asked. Better stay is closer to the beach and somerset has a hotel right on tne beach"

"Hotel J has the potential to be a great hotel however the cleanliness and lack of attentiveness from staff lets it down. We arrived with dirty sheets and towels and had to ask several times for this to be changed. Despite this the food at the hotel is very nice and the pool is great at the end of a hot day. "We had a fantastic 6 night stay at Surf N Spice, the guys who run the place are amazing. They made our trip so easy and relaxing. Huge comfy room with excellent aircon and a nice balcony to sit and relax on. The breakfast they serve as incredible, best we have had in 6 months travelling. It's exciting that they are constantly developing and improving the property including a new cafe which was nearly finished when we left and looked great. Lots to do in the area including 2 different beaches...

"Excellent location (right inside Galle Fort) and value for money. The owners were really welcoming, nice and helpful. B&B located in a smaller street of the Fort, thus providing calm. Room with a large bed, A/C, mosquito net and small balcony. We definitely recommend it! We got our breakfast in another hostel managed by the owners."

"We only stayed for one night however the hotel was lovely. Small boutique hotel right on the beach with lovely pool. You can access the beach and do snorkelling to see turtles and can walk up to the coconut trees. Approx 5 minutes in a tuk tuk to mirissa for a very small fare. Hotel staff went above and beyond for everything we needed. The WiFi worked however wasn’t strong enough in our room for us to fill in our visa for Malaysia so they put a router in our room! Would recommend and would stay...

"It’s odd that the main concern here is asking travellers to pay for their stay the moment they arrive/walk back in to the property/constantly. Payment on check-put is the norm and it’s strange to continually stay in places like this in Sri Lanka where they’re just obsessed with money.
