The Chureito Pagoda is possibly one of the most photographed pagoda's in Japan due to the fantastic view of Mount Fuji. If you visit the Chureito Pagoda, I hope you like climbing stairs, since close to 400 steps up the mountain lead from the Arakura Sengen Shrine to the Pagoda! The reward is an awesome view of Mount Fuji at sunrise or sunset.The main structure at the base was originally built in 788 and underwent reconstruction in the 17th century. Take a zen moment and sit in the gravel garden and absorb it all.
