"Slight hiccup initially of getting a room with car park view instead of a lake view room which I had booked and paid for in advance. But they changed the room on the second day of my stay (I stayed there for 3 nights in total). Food is good and the onsen was nice too . I also tried the private onsen which had a view of Mount Fuji on a clear day. The observatory on the roof top has a great view of the lake and Mount Fuji, which was nice "

"Rooms are amazing - staff friendly - a couple of things which were odd - we could not pre book the shuttle as the phone on the web site is not a valid number - the club lounge is a dark room with no windows - a shame when across the corridor you have a massive living room/ hall with such an amazing view - no room service and could not take anything from the lounge to the room or sitting area with a view . "Staying here was such an enjoyable, relaxing, and special experience. The breakfast and dinner kaiseki were delicious and allowed us to try a variety of Japanese dishes. It's a lot of food so come to each meal hungry. All the staff we interacted with were kind and very helpful. The indoor and outdoor onsen was the perfect way to unwind after long days exploring the Hakone area. "Onsen was beautiful and a great experience, beds were comfortable and good room sizes. Walking from the station is not recommended, especially if you have luggage. Room quality/fittings were okay. No views but the ground are peaceful. Overall, not quite the value for money. "

"The hotel from the initial walk in was beautiful and felt as though we were stepping back in time. Our room with papered walls and tatami mats, overlooking the river was breathtaking and the food carefully layed out by our nakai-san was exquisite and our nakai-san was wonderful, meticulous and patient with the many questions from our kids. "Wonderful property. True Japanese experience for my teenagers. Staff was wonderful. Restaurants in the area close early and coffee shops do not open until 9:00 am, so need to plan for that. Breakfast at hotel was wonderful and great variety of local cuisine."

Fortunately it was a local train and was not too frequent or bothersome but if you’re after a quiet spot, you may be affected by the noise. "

Fujikyu station is just a few steps away. The property is a little dated but clean and has everything you need for a short stay."
