Clean and well run
Clean and well equipped hostel in a very convenient location. Portrait art on the walls really livened up the place as well.

Comfy and clean
Very comfortable bed, staff friendly, always cleaning, great location, a little noisy within the building but would happily stay again.

Perfect for GNR stay
Stayed here over Great North Run weekend (Saturday) and would recommend - super central location, great atmosphere in the kitchen area, hot showers and rooms are spacious for a hostel. The others in my room were also running, so early nights all round! There is some noise from the street but to be expected on a Saturday night on Grainger Street.

Friendly and convenient location
Staff were amazing polite and friendly. Little issues were easily and quickly dealt with. The short walk from the station to the hostel made getting there very easy. Not top class but good enough for what you pay.

Good hostel. Wouldn't hesitate to book again! Everything up to standard. 24 hour reception is great. Easy to find, I managed to find free parking from 4pm-10am but this required research, checking restrictions and a moderate walk. Minor nitpicks: No wifi in bedrooms, shower pressure serviceable but on the lower side, (but warm and spacious) Don't let these dissuade you, they are the only improvements I could think of. Thank you to the staff.

Did what it said on the tin. Eight of us stayed here for a night out in Newcastle for a friends birthday. Great central location, staff we’re really friendly and helpful, ideal as somewhere cheap to get your head down. Would recommend.

Night stay to reduce travel commute.
I live 40 miles north of Newcastle, to reduce commuting I stayed at Albatross which was amazing. Best hostel in the toon by far. Nice murals painted on the walls, the inspiring messages made me smile, lovely communal areas, big kitchen & eating/TV room. Very cosy and relaxing. I will definitely stay here more often.

Fab little place to stay! :)
My 1st ever time in a hostel, so I was a bit apprehensive at first, but it really was an enjoyable stay. Staff were fab, whole place was immaculate. Only downside was the bathroom being a short walk away, but this obviously is the reason it’s a hostel and not a hotel :) - I would defo stay again. We were in an 8 bed room & our stay was for my ‘40th Birthday Bender’ :) - Our ages were 18 - 45 xxx

Excellent!
Stayed as a group of 7 in an 8 person room. Room was spacious, clean, ideal for what we needed it for. Perfect central location, friendly staff. Bed not the comfiest but I’ve slept in a lot worse! Will definitely use again!

Good value
2 mins walk from train station. Located across the road from Yates pub so can be a little noisy. Staff are welcoming and professional. Place is very clean. Would stay again.

Good hostel close to the train and some nice spots
Well. I hope you like steps cuz my calves got huge staying here But as you know hostels are really based on who else is staying there and i met some great people my two days. Plus it was close to the train and had some good spots around to go out and party. Plus Craig at the front desk is a legend.

pros: friendly & helpful staff and good location cons: (depending on location within building) access to bathrooms, manual heaters that leave room cold unless you remember to turn hearts on, and no lockers within some rooms (I had to depend on staff to store my things)

Messy room
I arrived on a Friday evening to a 10 bunk room. I was disappointed that all bottom hunks were taken. Mattresses were uncomfortable. Noisy outside on a busy road. I wouldn't stay there again.

Great location for partying just what u need
The hostel was great. view from room want good but there was working on that and improvements was going on. Loved the way no one could get in without having a card key. Although when I first booked it Hotels.com stated I didn't have to pay until on arrival but the hostel emailed saying the wanted the payment 2 weeks before or my stay would be cancelled. Also the website did state 25 pound deposit but wasn't clear that that was per person.

the Hostel is situated in a great area of the city
overall had a great stay in the Albatross hostel. it was in a great location as we were up to watch the Wolves v Newcastle game it was very close to the ground.
