On whole it was great however when you book a double standard room you expect a double bed as stated on Expedia. This is not the case the room was tiny and the bed was in fact a 3/4 bed not a standard double and was the most uncomfortable bed I’ve ever slept in. Hotel is good location for shops, bars & transport.

Excellent location. Hotel friendly and clean. Room (small double) a little cramped but perfectly comfortable. Lively downstairs bar in the evening. Good value.

Really lovely hotel. Staff were very helpful and friendly. Breakfast was delicious, nice to be able to order off the menu. Incredibly central and perfect for the train. However this comes at a price, it’s very noisy. It’s an old building and the windows do not keep the noise out. Take some ear plugs and it’s all good!

Staff were extremely professional. Small room was indeed small but as advertised. Right in the centre of town, opposite the train station. Couldn’t be easier. Price was best in town also.

Hotel looks fab and is a fantastic location for getting about. The breakfast was not good, cold eggs, poor coffee and overcooked sausage, beds were very soft which was not good. Reception staff were fab, bar staff totally disinterested. Twice we went to Hudson's and both times we walked out without getting a drink.

A very impressive building, the entrance was very oppulent and grand, but not in an off-putting way. the check in was easy and the staff were very pleasant, helpful and hospitable - we were dealt with by Katrianna ( I think that is how you spell her name) but her clolleague was really good as well. The lift is the quietist smoothest lifr I have evey been in. The Room was excellent, a very high standard the beds were comfartable, the bedding/ pillows were ao a high quality, the decore was fresh and interesting, we had an internal facing room so there was no view, but if you holiday is only to look out the window its not much of a holiday! The food and bar looked good but we chose to eat somewhere else as we had to get to a gig in the north of Newcastle so, we got something to eat nearer, but it looked nice.Security at the hotel was good, we got back about 12:30am and there was security asking for room number and name to ensure people were not just coming in of the street ( a good idea, when your in the city centre). I would stay here again at the drop of a hat.

I can't complain about this hotel as it has everything you need in one place and within easy walking distance to restaurants and bars and retail therapy. Can't fault the staff as they are very helpful with your needs, always with a smile and a warm greeting.

Room was directly above the function suite which hosted a rather rowdy wedding until c.1am. I’ve stayed in party hostels that were quieter and suffice to say I didn’t get any sleep. Attitude of reception staff was also poor and I felt at times rude. I would advise you do not leave bags to be stored as not convinced about security, you’re provided with a hand written scrap of paper and when you return are told to wander around behind reception in amongst all the bags to find yours when reception staff can’t be bothered. Overall, felt my experience was very poor and would not return.

Disappointed won’t stay again
We went to celebrate our anniversary having been married in this hotel 9 years ago, the gentleman from reception was lovely and even brought us a card up to the room, this however is where the positives end,,,,, the room was hot and stuffy meaning we had to open the windows. This led to very little sleep as the streets outside were so noisy all throughout the night. The breakfast was mediocre at very best and the chef was using his hands to plate up!! Not once were we asked how our stay was or how our breakfast was all I can conclude is that they’re not too bothered!

Fantastic breakfast - small rooms
Checkin was chaos, so many guests needing to check in and only 2 members of staff doing their best to be as quick as possible, this is when mistakes happen and it took 3 attempts to get my room key coded correctly. The Duty Manager did pop out of his comfy office and took a look around but must have decided all seemed well and didn’t need to assist his team - not good. The room, whilst clean and tastefully decorated was extremely small. I initially thought we had been given a single room. The bed is 3 quarter, not a double and pushed up against the wall ~ I had to climb over my husband during the night for a bathroom visit. The photos when booking are very misleading. We travelled in a party of 5 and all 3 rooms were the same, so it wasn’t we were just unlucky. The highlight had to be breakfast - superb! A good choice on the Buffett along with additional items that could be ordered, I recommend the eggs Benedict. The hotel is a central location, in a busy city, there felt to be no personal service or interest in you as a guest. I felt for the 2 guys at checkin, they did their best under pressure of the number of guests to be checked in. Would I stay here again, sadly no but I would sure go for breakfast!
