The Salisbury - YMCA of Hong Kong

The Salisbury - YMCA of Hong Kong

8/10 Good
"The staff could not be more helpful: reception, concierge & house-maids in particular. I had a top floor room with excellent views over the harbour so that was a real plus. The bed was huge (King size) and firm and I was able to have firm pillows delivered quickly to my room on request. There were plenty if fresh towels and good shampoo/conditioner/body-wash in the bath-shower. My room also had a useful fridge, air-conditioning and they even provided a handy adapter for the Hong Kong electricity plugs. I used the YMCA 25m indoor pool as a hotel guest (free) and found it easy to find a decent lap lane daily after 9am. (There is also a well equipped gym, but I did not need it.) The lifts were responsive and did not delay me at any stage. I think the hotel is starting to look a little tired or dated compared to the nearby competition, but it is of course much better value-for-money. I would prefer a separate shower (i.e. not in the bath), but they provide a non-slip mat and it was OK. I did not use the cafe or restaurant, but there are so many others nearby to try as well as so many new shopping malls within an easy walk as is the MRT and the ferry terminals."

"Hotel did the job, but probably tries to be grander than it actually is. Not enough lifts. Restaurant only breakfast and lunch, but fortunately quite close to Food Street at Causeway. Room was fine, a bit compact, aircon fine. Facilities ok."

"Just a short walk from Wanchai MTR exit A1 Novotel is conveniently located. I have been here a couple of times now and both times I was checked in quickly and efficiently by a friendly front desk staff member. The room was clean and well maintained, the pool was very welcome during the hot steamy summer conditions of August and I had a relaxing time here, just a perfect stopover on my way to another Chinese city."
