Seoullo 7017

The dominance of trees often takes over from surrounding high-rise buildings on both sides of Seoul’s Seoullo 7017. It was a victory for pedestrians over vehicles when the local government decided to change an overpass to a walkway in 2017. Prior to that cars and trucks streamed along the elevated structure connecting eastern and western portions of the city, from Seoul Station to Namdaemun Market. Stroll for over 0.5 miles (1 kilometer) through a park-like setting with about 24,000 trees and plants.

The name comes from the structure being 58 feet (17 meters) above the ground, as well as the attraction’s 17 pathways and the road’s re-designation, which occurred in 2017. The 70 refers to the year the structure was first built as an expressway.
