"This hotel would have been very grand in her day, but is showing her age. The rooms are huge, but room amenities sparse and towels and yukata are old. It’s primarily used for large groups to use the onsen I think, rather than a luxurious stay. The breakfast dining room is large, as is the hotel, but having breakfast with another 200 or 300 people wasn’t all that pleasant. The rooms have no USB charging ports, and power outlets are few and low to the ground. The view from the hotel is beautiful...

"We stayed here for two nights. Both dinner and breakfast were fabulous. Although there are fewer options compared to some other Onsens, they rotated food each day. The grilled steak in the dinner was super and it was paired well with the house Cabernet Sauvignon. The location is great for hiking in the autumn and we hiked up the overlook next to the gondola exit. We were surrounded by the majestic mountains including Mount Yotei."
