Fantastic place to stay in downtown KL especially those who want to imbibe the Golden Triangle. Taxis everywhere, monorail to KL Sentral outside the front door and 100 meters away from KL Pavilion. Easy access to all major sites in downtown KL. Rooms Japanese style which is a nice touch. The restaurant is an excellent bakery--Tous les Jours--which is fantastic for breakfast. I was there for six weeks (working in KL) and I will be happy to stay there again.
Stayed for one night in this small, clean hotel. Great location near attractions, and several really nice bars right next door - including fantastic jazz club. No restaurant, but food places all around. Room was basic, but perfectly acceptable, with great shower!
This is a large hotel in a mall-like area. It is connected well to public transportation, including the subway and the bus terminal down the road. The lobby area is nice and the restaurant looks good. The rooms themselves are a little weary. Mine this time had a broken shower and it just needed some revamping. The bed is okay. There is a safe in the room, thankfully. The security in the hotel isn't great, as visitors can go from outside up to your room without being stopped at the front desk or asked for an ID. I did find the staff helpful when I asked them questions. I did not get the breakfast this time, because I was severely disappointed with it last time I stayed here.
With the current construction works going on around Bukit Bintang we had to drive around three times along Jalan Walter Grenier. We used Google Map and Waze however both applications did not direct us to the correct direction. Eventually I spotted a small, almost hidden "Hotel Royal Kuala Lumpur" sign and we quickly drove in.
Tip - Slide to the extreme right of the road if you are driving towards Grand Plaza Parkroyal and then turn right onto a small one-way lane. The hotel is just there.
Front office was busy when arrived so we rest at the cafe and enjoyed a simple but satisfying English hi-tea at only RM18 for 2.
Our room was spacious and very, very clean.
We enjoyed our first stay at this hotel and will recommend to family and friends. A comeback? Sure. Price is considerably cheap especially when booked through Expedia.
Hopefully when the construction works for MRT is up and running, future visits will be a breeze. Can't wait! :)
I'm older and so noisy backpacker places are not for me. This place is a well priced mid level hotel. Like most hotels rooms are not sound proof, so you can hear the baby crying in the next room... But the hotel is well located, very clean with everything you need for a KL trip. It's a little worn ( bathroom needs repainting and handrail is coming loose), but I would definitely stay here again. Excellent value for money.
